Chivas and Furbs. I have to be honest here, I can't remember anymore what the goals of the debate are. Are you looking for one of you to change their position? Is it 3pts for a win but still a point for a draw?
Has it been a year already, it only seems a few months ago Mrs Frog had to pop my tongue back in my mouth re:seizure of seeing that big yellow tiger moth on my screen?
A year? Wow. Time flies.. My goal was never to change Furbs, or any others naysayers mind, if they can't see the possibilities now, they never will, until Luthier takes them by the hand and shows them the finished product. I'm just pointing out to others sitting on the fence or new to the forums that its all not gloom and doom. Its very selfish on my part, the genre is so small, that any sale of COD, could keep the development in business long enough to finish the AI, Commands, FM, DM etc. I see no point in endlessly stating whats not finished in COD, as that has been painfully obvious to everyone including the developer for many months. Have you considered that in an effort to provide consistent rebuttals it might be inadvertently exasperating the position of those that are feeling grumpy. Put another way, your strategy might be correct and your goal a noble one (to give people new to the game another perspective, so that they might buy it and keep it alive) but your tactics might be actively contradicting your goals - you may be making it worse? The moaners might not be continuing to moan unless they have a foil to fight with. The arguing is actually the occupation if they can't get the game to work or are let down by it. I don't mean this to be critical, and 90% of the discussion we have are all actually fairly nicely spirited, but it's something to consider if it's tempting to fight fire with fire. Come this Friday, we'll all be enjoying the new patch anyway! I understand your theory, but its been my experience that nothing will stop people from moaning. Do you actually think the moaning would have stopped six months ago if there had been no one posting anything positive. You would have had a forum filled with nothing but negative comments. How would that play for people looking for user information on the sim. My take on it would be that the Extended forum here is kinda tucked away, and not really that visible to the average person looking for info. They will probably hit gamespot and IGN and the like first, and those reviews alone would probably make it a non-purchase.

Come this Friday, we'll all be enjoying the new patch anyway! Is this true? I had read that there will not be an update this week as there are holidays later this week. I dunno - I did make that bit up. Russians have lots of holidays don't they?

There is some merit to your argument that the Extended forum is kinda tucked away. The reviews certainly didn't help when most of them didn't mention that the sim was still being worked on. Personally I've found most reviews not fully informative as they are based on one persons opinion, that may or may not be a WW2 aircombat enthusiast. I usually seek out a larger base of user information to make my decision. Although I didn't need that info to make my decision to buy COD. It was based on the developer having a history of making and supporting quality WW2 aircombat sims. I had enjoyed ten years of quality gaming, and wouldn't have thrown the developer under the bus because they weren't able to release a finished product when I new they would making every effort to finish it.

Chivas how early was CLOD been released would you say? Originally I thought the main issues with COD, the performance optimization, AI, and Command issues, were eight months to a year away, but the graphic rewrite has set back the main issues a few months. The next performance patch and if not included hopefully the AI patch to follow soon after will make the sim playable by most people. Once the game engine is working properly, adding missing and unfinished features should come on a more accelerated schedule. Chivas, i want to live in your world... By furbs9999 at 2012-03-06

I had enjoyed ten years of quality gaming, and wouldn't have thrown the developer under the bus because they weren't able to release a finished product when I new they would making every effort to finish it. Tucked away as the extended forum is, none of the mainstream publications I normally read did a review of this game at all. The only reviews I have read about this game have been linked from here or 1C. I really don't think many people who have bought this game or are interested in buying it will be the result of a review (Apart from Russians, I heard their reviews were 'exagerated' on the initial launch (Russians, propoganda, nah.... )).I think that the only people who aren't long in the tooth Il2 veterans who will come across this game are gamers with an interest in WWII aviation/combat. As such I think we can consider this forum a fairly primary source of information for people who are 'on the fence' potential buyers. That's my personal experience anyway. I came here when after running CloD on the day of launch I found it to be a stutterfest that made me want to cry. I wanted to know if it was just me! Thankfully after some good advice and a few emergency patches things have been running great for me, online anyway!. I've really appreciated the advice and help I have got from this forum and I'm really glad I own the game, but would I buy it now on the strength of what is being posted here now? That I'm not sure of. Boko P.S. @FearlessFrog, I do hope you're not 'promising' that we'll be enjoying the new patch by friday, because if you are and it doesn't come out we'll all be round your house complaining!

Well, If'n I can't get a refund for Friday....I'll just have to wait on the patch... But you'll have to wait a bit longer, as the friday is a holiday in russia. So, no patch this friday, and no update either. Sad, but no drama.
