Yeah that last MS Flight video with the Product Managers and Devs was pretty hilarious.
The devs sounded like they were really working on something cool that they cared about, but the product and project managers (I assume Joshua was one of them but can't find the video on the ms site anymore) was just spewing the typical IT business "eco system" "paradigm" "leverage" "utilize" "synergy" buzzword bingo crap.
From that video and the later interviews it sounds like that guy thinks the hardcore simmer audience and 3rd party support is what was wrong with FSX and that they now needed to focus on a larger gamer audience as the priority as well as an internal DLC "eco-system" (a.k.a. cashcow).
I'm actually glad that flight will be approachable to non-simmers, and I may even like it eventually for messing around and teaching my daughters about flight sims, but I'm just annoyed with how poorly they prioritized TIR for us old crusty simmers and how they refuse to confirm it will be supported. I'm waiting to see them support TIR before I buy any of the DLC since I can't really enjoy it without it.

I know not everyone here can post to the topic linked, but if you have Beta access, I encourage you to post. And please keep it to a simple statement that you would like TrackIR to be added and will be more likely to spend $$$ on Flight if they do add it. If the thread turns into a "Should they or shouldn't they" debate, I doubt anyone from MS will read it or take it seriously.

Can't read it unless a member of the beta team but if this Joshua guy thinks that's an answer to the Track Ir issue maybe he should work on a different genre, my Grandfather would want Track IR, My Father would want it and I want it, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. So far they aren't competing with the rest of the Sims out there, they can't they're offering very little at the moment. You triggered a memory for me here. My family hosts the Thanksgiving feast for the extended family every year. My brother-in-law is a pilot and we tend to get the simulators running when he visits. Two years ago when everyone was waiting for dinner, and I had a break between cooking duties, I fired up Blackshark and had my brother-in-law check it out. With TrackIR running, he was loving it; this was no surprise. But what was a pleasant surprise was how everyone else from Grandfather down to granddaughter suddenly became much more interested in my odd little hobby when they saw the TrackIR at work. At this point, several people were gathered in the office waiting their turn to try to fly. Of course, getting the helicopter off the ground wasn't nearly as easy as it looked for them, but that's not the point. The point is, TrackIR brought MORE interest in the game; it was absolutley not something that drove people away. (Well, actually, my niece called her dad a geek with the head gear on, but she was 16 at the time.) And that's the thing Track IR as silly as it looks on your head IS cool being able to "see" in the virtual world and lean and look is very immersive, so much that I do it when watching videos of cockpits or in other games where Track Ir isn't used just out of habit.

An interim fix for the lack of TrackIR: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364731-true-virtual-cockpit-perspective-tweak/Uses mouse look mode but also some scripting to eliminate the need to hold down the right mouse button.

TRACK IR NEVER WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO FLIGHT!
It's been repeated many times: The devs totally ignored TIR reps during development and have still keep the door completely shut on even entertaining the thought of TIR...
It's not hard to see why, really...
MS Flight is a new generation of Flight Sims designed so that anyone can play from children to the elderly using a gamepad or just a keyboard. It's the new MS buisness model like it and accept it or leave it.
It's also been strongly rumored that MS Flight will be a launch title for the new Xbox 720 and use the Kinect technology.
I think that expecting MS Flight to accommodate TIR into their business model is expecting MS Flight to be more of a serious sim than it's ever expected to be.
We just have to enjoy MS Flight for what it is; a fun arcade style flight sim, and stick to FSX for TIR.

Seth fron TrackIR said they were working with MS throughout development and he only heard about TrackIR not being in the final release at the last minute. At least thats what he posted ay Avsim...

I don't have access to the beta forum, but someone posted on AVSIM that on the Flight beta forum someone from the Flight team has confirmed they are working on TrackIR support: But if you are listening, why haven’t you made any changes? <snip> One change that’s in process is that – although at this time we have nothing to announce – due to the consistent and numerous requests for TrackIR, we’re actively working on putting it in a future update.
You can post it, although I want to be clear: when I said "we have nothing to announce at this time," it means we're not officially announcing TrackIR as a future feature because we're not committing to a date, etc. We're working on it, but no promises as to when you'll see it. :-)
Very happy to hear that!

There was an update to Flight yesterday, still no Track-Ir support, some small fixes but people are gushing about them nonetheless.

Yeah the update was pretty much a bug fix release with the main benefit (from what I can see) being that the joystick sensitivity was tweaked to make it more controllable and less touchy.
I think the people gushing about it were the ones who benefited from the bug fix to the video card detection which limits how many details setting are available, after this update they were not just able to run "high" setting but "max" setting which probably improved the eyecandy for them.
