Exciting news for Ghost Recon fans this weekend as we have the scoop on a remarkable development with former Ghost Recon game designer Christian Allen.

Recently we mentioned that Christian had launched Serellan LLC, a mystery project with little information other than a place holder page at Serellan.com. Today we blow the top right of the secret with a massive exclusive interview, with Christian, where he reveals the plans for his next gaming project...

"We will be focusing our initial development on a hardcore CQB tactical shooter on the PC. I’ve been working on AAA console games for over a decade now, but I started out as a PC modder, and I really feel the need to get back to my roots.... this will be first and foremost a hardcore PC game."
The kicker for hardcore tactical shooter fans, is that a large element of Christian's strategy is to follow the crowdsourced route to really make this a game that fans can be involved in. The first element of this strategy is the game's Kickstarter page, where you'll also find a video of Christian explaining his project.

Still looking for reasons to be excited? Christian Allen started his career modding for Rainbow Six, and ended up accepting a BAFTA for the Ghost Recon team before working with huge game developers. This is man who knows tactical shooters from a fans persepctive, and has the resources to make this project happen.

So, read our exclusive interview for all the details, pledge your support on the Kickstarter page, post your comments in our forums right here, and also watch this space as Serellan's official forums are just about ready to be launched, and we know you will want to secure your own username before it is grabbed by another gamer!

Hmh, no comments (reaction) so far, sadly. Seems like Magnum got it right when he wrote in his outlook for 2012 that "tactical shooters continue to be a dying breed".

Anyone of you guys in this yet?

Double Fine managed to rise more than a million $ in less than 24h for their project (a record on Kickstarter, btw. And yeah, I'm in it). Would be great if Christian Allen would have success as well. I'm fed up with all the shooter on rails that get ported from console to PC nowadays.

Well, this could be a very good news but the fact is this news is only composed by words, there's absolutely NO screenshots, videos or even (regarding words) more detailed information about this game (for example which scenarios and weapons will it model? And other game features as well). I think this is the main reason (at least it is for me) regarding the "lack of interest" regarding this news.

Unless I see more tangible information about this game/project, for me it's almost like this project doesn't exist at all.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this info Magnum!

I'm in. Details are a little bit sketchy at this point, but 15$ is no big risk and won't buy you many games these days.

There's a podcast interview with the guy behind this (now a designer for Bungie) and he seems like a pretty cool guy. Be warned that this interview was released eons ago back in 2008:

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?cid=13219

Him being an old-school Rainbow Six fan who was involved with the modding community as well as a former serviceman, I'd say the project's in good hands if it gets off the ground.

I'm thinking I'll pledge $15 easy. I'd put in $25 if I was more certain.

However, I'm not thrilled the final day is April Fool's. smile

Ok, I'm in for $15.

Well the whole point of using Kickstarter for this is to prove the concept's viability to potential investors, so that attitude is exactly the wrong one to have. This is your chance to make your voice heard to potential publishers.

Design lead for Halo: Reach? Consultant on weapons system authenticity in video games? Experienced team including Bungie devs who worked on every Halo back to 1? Hardcore tactical shooter from devs who know how to make games that are smooth yet weighty in their movement, bug-free, and flawlessly solid in all core gameplay elements?

Please take my money, it is a privilege to give it to you.
