I liked M&C, but the 1950's Captain Horatio Hornblower is my all-time favourite. I watched it first when I was about 10, and today it brings along this boyish spirit for adventure.

Another is H.M.S. Defiant, with Alec Guinness and Dirk Bogarde. Directed by Lewis Gilbert, who also did Sink the Bismarck.

Thx for the link. I can get it for the same price as UK import over amazon.de but i´m looking for the german dub version first. And that is the expensive one.

Rends, there is no better naval movie than M&C. There. I've said it. Surprised, anyone? Hah! Catch the pun? biggrin wink

PM, you're probably right. And the fact that you are really saddens me! GREAT movies, I mean truly great ones, are few and far between nowadays. M&C is one of them. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is another one. Drive is a third one. They don't do all that well in the box offices, and so the money grabbers don't see reason enough to make a sequel.
