Ray iis talking about the t-model renderdistance that dissaper, in the sence of not needed anymore. The problem with dissapearing planes i was talking about is more a blinking/schimmering. If a plane dissapear like you wrote there seems to be a graphic missing, it also could be a missing code 1 line in the vals s.3dz.

Guys.

Many of the models simply don't have the code 1 lines on the s.3dz's, that's why they shimmer. 99% of the PAW conversions don't have these lines, as it's only a EAW thing.

So, your going to have to put up with a horrible simmering blob, rather than the dot as your far distance model.

I don't see this as a step forward. nope

I always remember people jibing other Sims for the poor distance graphics they had, and now we are going to join them.

To be clear, I didn't delete T.3dz's in SPAW. I just didn't give them much though as I BELIEVED I pushed them back far enough that they didn't matter.

My assumption was that the game would pick up the default T.3dz's from the cdf but that since they were so far away it wouldn't matter if they matched up with the profile of the plane in that slot.

Seems I was wrong.

As I said, I hope that SPAW can be upgraded to 1.3 standards when the time comes so that this flaw can be fixed.

If an upgrade isn't possible I can rework the planes.dat file with new distance views and offer the fix to the community.

Hi Ray.

If all the s models had code 1 lines, then the distance effect would not be that bad.

But, if you take a look at a lot of the s.3dz's, they are copies of the m.3dz, or have no code 1 elements.

This problem was flagged up a long time ago on this forum.

Hi,

to summ it up:

The problem i describe is for sure not related to the code 1 line, i call it "high quality render problem".
Its related to an to far distance render setting for to quality graphics, probably caused by to many colours possible per pixel.
The shimmering and blinking i describe is similar to the missing code 1 line but not as intense.
The missing code 1 line is a problem for everyone, the to high quality render problem might not be visible on some PC´s.
The high quality render problem is very similar to the terrain shimmering, also not all suffer it.

Greetings,

Knegel

Hi Ralf.

So, why are you thinking of getting rid of the T.3dz?

It was just a thought as it seems like a good possibility what with the improvement in PC performance since 1998.

Heck if we're going to explore the addition of extra 3dz files for improved hi-res models , just for fun, here's a question.

What ever happened to the D.3dz?
