It doesn't matter if it works or not, I'm not going to restart my computer every time I want to play Rise of flight, it's a problem that should be fixed not a problem people should have to go out of their way to avoid.

Maybe it is an exaggeration to say "nearly everyone" but it's a very common problem. Those of you who claim to never have had a CTD have you ever played 2+ career missions in a row? Have you ever finished a career mission and then tried to play a QMB mission? These are the real common causes of CTD's.

The only time I had a CTD was when the latest update came out and the mod I was running hadn't been updated yet.

Since the mod update-runs smooth as glass, no hitches, perfect.

The ONLY issue I have is the very rare loss of internet connection as it always seems to happen after a particularly successful mission in the career mode!! biggrin

Shot down 5 NE 17's last night in my trusty Alb DIII flying the full-real mode and on my way back home I got the "loss of internet connection" symbol----I couldn't believe it because it took every bullet and forever to knock them all down. Fortunately the connection "re-connected" before I landed so the effort wasn't wasted. biggrin

I'm thinking you may have some other issues.............

Have you ever tried playing multiple career missions in a row?

Yes, and I've done so with no problems.

Yes, and again, no problems. I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist, but to say at this point that it's a very common problem is a stretch.

Well then I supposed I'll make a support thread asking for help, I've been getting the ROF.exe crash since I started playing last august, I've tried all kinds of graphics settings, I've even overclocked my cpu and used a bunch of different drivers since then. Still always get CTDs.

My last ROF.exe is more than 6 months ago. I had a few stucks, when loading MP missions before, but this is resolved as well.
So, if you report ROF.exe´s , you should at least state your hardware specs, otherwise it makes no sense at all.

And statements like "nearly everyone" I don´t like at all. No one of my squad is reporting ROF.exe problems.

I've played ROF for more than 6 hours flying multiple aircraft in the career mode without the slightest problem.

Hate to say it but overclocking anything in your computer puts you at a HIGHER risk of having software issues, especially if it's not done correctly.

I have my GPU, memory and CPU overclocked, but I've been building computers since the late 80's and I know how to configure the system to handle the changes, how to test the system, and how far to push things without causing problems.

How about some info on your system and what exactly did you do to "overclock" it.........

lol, my overclock is just fine and perfectly stable. These issues aren't caused by my overclocked CPU as that was only done recently where as the rof.exe crash has been existent since july of last year when I started playing ROF.

I just find it incredibly interesting that I can run the game at a solid framerate yet these CTD's are still being pushed off as simple user error. I also find it funny that ROF is the only game I've ever gotten regular CTD's while playing, even playing crysis with a low framerate on an older PC I never once crashed.

As already mentioned, the career missions can be "heavy". RoF is very stable for me, but has occasionally crashed during career missions. By occasionally, I mean maybe a half dozen times over a period of months.

What I believe is it is something random in certain career missions.... some combination of AI spawns, timers, something....

I have saved "offending" career missions that had crashed with the mission editor (yes, you can save and edit the "last" mission you flew, even career missions).

When I reflew the career missions that had crashed... they would often crash again. But not 100% repeatable. There is some randomness. Maybe 30% of the time the "problem" mission would crash, and the rest of the time it would be fine. This leads me to think something is being triggered (there are proximity triggers, timers, etc., running behind the scenes) that "breaks" the mission... if it is not triggered (by player or AI proximity, for example), the mission runs fine.

Just a thought.... I was never able to "find" the problem (the career missions are pretty complex). Just noticed it.

Best wishes.
