Coot, they had one crash in Alaska last year I think, they're having O2 problems and were grounded for most of last year. Got cleared only to be grounded again...

When I flew into Sun 'n Fun at KLAL in 2011, the F-22 did an all-out demo on Friday. On Saturday, the plan was the same but they had some sort of issue and about 1/3 of the way through the demo, they aborted (due to some sort of malfunction) and landed. No one would have probably noticed unless they had seen the show the previous day.

They still do demos, it's just a matter of when and where.

As for "Snort," I grew up watching him do his F-14 demos at Andrews and PAX. But when I see him at airshows or pics of his airshows nowadays, I get the impression he's pushing things a little too far...especially after he wrapped up his F-86 a few years ago.

Snodgrass is a hoot to watch. What I love is that at the same airshow day he'll be doing a demo with his acrobatic plane, next thing you know here he comes in his Sabre, next thing you know he's demoing another jet! cool

They cleared them so they could move them away from the Storm without getting burnt.. it was a conditional cleared for flight. as soon as they returned they were returned to their original status.

Either the O2 Issue or the "Structural Issue" that they found later after the O2 issue.

I know someone that works for Lockheed in the F-22 Program, he said they are also having issues with the computer systems.

They should strip down and make a AirShow Demo F-14... its so wrong that the jet is 99% gone, and nothing remains to show people what we had in the late 80s/early 90s.

Snort tried to do that and started trying to get funding. The big problem is parts and cash. If the parts are available to a domestic company, they'll certainly find their way overseas, which the U.S. doesn't want.

Besides, who is going to make all the parts? The lines are closed and no one has any in the system, unlike the F-4.

Probably because they're still a pretty potent weapon system. And I don't think they're flying as many as you think they are...or they would like us to believe.

I got to meet Dale "Snort" Snodgrass at an air show a couple years ago. I got him to autograph a copy of the low pass photo in front of the USS America. He signed it Tomcats Forever, "Snort". I'm not much of an autograph collector, in fact this is the only one I have gotten in person. But this one is cool. I have the photo framed and hanging in my office at home. He flew the P-51 that day and yes he flies crazy fast and low. The man is an outstanding pilot. I hope he stays safe.
