Hi all,

Quote:
The statement about things turning into a confusing mess is spot on in my opinion. Just look at our own forums here. How many people ask about which add-ons to get for FSX or what P3D is? These are questions by people who would be considered my most to be sim enthusiasts. Now think of all the others out there that don't fall into that same category and are probably even more confused.

First of all, who doesn't ask questions about any software they buy, everyone asks questions. There are many people already asking questions about "Flight", who have other Microsoft products. Just because people ask questions doesn't mean everything is too confusing.

When I first bought MSFS 2000 I was new to flight simulation and used the product as was. It was a complete package to fly anywhere in the world. There were no switches that needed to be pushed to fly any of the stock aircraft. What I didn't understand from reading the manual, I simply asked others for help. My only problem was, I didn't have a computer to fly MSFS 2000 as it was. As I said in my previous post, my joystick inputs took a second or more to influence the aircraft. But with practice I could fly the aircraft even with the very slow response and I enjoyed it for the challenge of flight. As to 3rd party additions, there were some, but mostly everything was freeware at that time. I didn't use the freeware nor did I purchase any 3rd party additions and no one was forcing me to buy them. I simply enjoyed flight simulator 2000 for what it was. Later, after I had a decent computer and a new version of MSFS, I believe it was 2002, I started investigating the freeware aircraft and scenery addons. And because I had never added anything to MSFS in the past, I asked questions and others kindly responded. Even when FSX came out it was a complete package and one could fly it as it was, anywhere in the world. No one was forced to buy 3rd party additions and I didn't buy any for the first two years. Once I had a computer that allowed good frame rates, it was only then that I began purchasing additions. But again, I didn't have to purchase them because FSX was a complete package.

Wired,

I am one of those that sees the value in exceptionally good payware for FSX...which I have,,the Captain Sim C-130 cost me 60 dollars, which luckily I can afford,,and ,,,and a Cessna Chieftain,,40 dollars,,, and a few formerly payware releases that were made freeware as newer payware upgrades were made available, downloaded from Simviation...The majority of freeware is woefully inadequate,,at least in my experience,,Ultimate Terrain X was not exactly cheap,,and most of the default aircraft are mediocre in FSX,,at least once you have experienced the Captain C-130,for example...

I fly occasionally with a friend in a 182, in real life, and grab the wheel once in a while,,as he approaches a landing, any landing, it is always a heady,,challenging experience,,quite nervy(I leave that to the pilot, of course) ,,given weather,,,etc. I never sense that tension in FSX,,,the Stearman in MS Flight created that sense of nerves and challenge, (I really did feel like I was flying,,back in the real 182, in the 6th landing challenge,,one of the high points I have noticed so far,,,the drift and feel of movement is superior in MS Flight,,,the feel of bouncing and drifting to and fro with the wind,,I simply can't get that in FSX, even with the severest turbulence applied in FSX....those are some of the pros In MS Flight..however, I bought the P-51, and no VC, I was totally dismayed..that's a head scratcher,,well, after all, I have only paid so for 9 bucks for Flight...and in reality, my chances of flying over the Swiss Alps is never gonna happen, but the Flight version will eventually be available, and it will be superior to FSX,,,which is mediocre, at best,,,, and it but yeah, at a cost,,,guys are paying 40 bucks for one locomotive and a few scenarios at Railworks 3,,Train Sim 2012,,,,it all comes down in any sim to this you get what you pay for just ----some pros and cons I noticed at first FLIGHT--thanks

I think one advantage of the niche that is flight simulation is there’s a very dedicated fanbase who has demonstrated they will do virtually anything that’s necessary to support that hobby

It is indeed a dedicated fanbase. And when you decide to make a sim, I'm sure they'll enjoy it smile

...That is me being civil on this topic.
