Just watched this film and really impressed by it. Never heard of it before until the other week when I read it mentioned in another review. One of those films that comes from out of the blue are sometimes the best. The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Helen Mirren) and Stefan (Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1965, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain, Marton Csokas, and Sam Worthington) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team's mission was accomplished - or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations. And Jessica Chastain, who I haven't heard of before, is gorgeous http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226753/

I liked it, but they advertised it wrong. I went into it expecting it to be primarily the present day setting, with a little flashback, but most of the movie is the "flashback" storyline. It was good, in fact, the present day part was the part that let it down the most--very rushed to resolve it. Just not quite what I expected.

Its a re-make. The original was an Israeli film I believe. I read the same thing. Pescador

I'll probably find it at the library or else from Zune or something. It sounds great! Good idea. pescador

After watching The Debt, read this thread from IMDB. Some laugh out loud funny observations. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226753/board/nest/187893478Over all I liked The Debt. Miss Chastian is gorgeous. The opening shot of the movie with the profile of her face made me question immediately who that lovely lady was. After seeing the a portion of the movie I had to laugh at myself because I had just seen "The Help" a month before. The two characters couldn't have been more opposite of each other. LOL
