"Heat" is a certifiable modern classic.

I saw it this weekend. I thought it was done with ok action scenes strung together with terrible, stiff acting. IIRC the two main guys are actually former SEALs and not currently active duty, but I guess the rest of the team was supposed to be active guys. They could have done without the voiceover stuff IMO, it felt even more forced than most of the other non-action scenes. Most of the crowd seemed to be made up of veterans, older and younger. Lots of Army, Navy, etc. shirts and hats on in the crowd, and a lot of the younger guys looked like Corps of Cadet or ROTC guys from VT.

The problem with "real" gun recordings is they don't sound like "real" guns. Mics aren't usually capable of capturing concussive sounds like that.
For example, having witnessed multiple rocket and shuttle launches over the last decade or so, I can affirm not ONE TV or film has ever been close. Not even the IMAX films NASA made get it. Mics can't get it, so they engineer one and they never get it right.

The best shoot out/bank robbery ever in a film. Best car chase ever is in Ronin.

So...if 85% of the RT crowd liked it...I'm confused!

yeah, the film did very well at the box office. That is why we need to watch what the n-value of this score and the score/rating itself.

Seems funny that folks will rag on hollywood until it puts out a movie they enjoy. Then they rag on the critics.
Just no pleasin' some peeps.
