Hi gang,
my first completed one for a while. Got this new for 12 quid at Scale Model World in 2010. Lots of fun for the price. This is my first Hasegawa kit in years, and I was looking forward to the legendary fit, but they must have left it out of this kit. Nothing that couldn't be handled though. To the box contents I added the Eduard cockpit set that dresses up the seats and surroundings. It's s lot dirtier than any of my references show due to needing to have to blend in the terrible staining Micro-set and sol were producing round the decals. I also chopped the instrument panel decals up to apply each instrument individually. Took a while but a good effect I think.

Thanks for looking!

cheers
Gareth

That looks awesome, except I think it's missing the "dolphin" paint scheme (I like it better without that anyway Smile2 )

Did the mirrors on the canopy come with the kit, or were they scratch built?

EDIT: Apparently it's nicknamed the "dolphin"....I had to look that up on a Japanese site--did not know that. My local shop has one of these (can't remember if it's 1/48 or 1/72) but it has a dolphin-inspired paint scheme on it.

Thanks everyone.

Jinro > The mirrors are part of the small Eduard set I added to the kit parts. I know the scheme you are talking about, it's one of my favourites. Looking at the nose and horizontal stabilisers you can clearly see how it got it's nickname.

I didn't know there were aftermarket sets for the T-4. I need to find some for my F-1 and F-2 that need to be built.

Also, how did you get such clean lines on the inside of the intakes where the gray changes to white? I could never figure out how to do that.

The demarcation lines are where the trunking joins the intake surrounds. I deviated from the prescribed construction sequence and made sure I got a perfect fit of the trunking to the surrounds before fitting to the airframe. Both parts were pre-painted and I joined with Gator's Grip white glue.

Great looking model, it's awesome that so many little-known planes are being put out there now. Back when I used to build them 25+ years ago it seemed everyone made the same 2 dozen or so common planes, but if you wanted anything out of the ordinary you had to either scratchbuild or go with vacu-formed or cast resin kits that were usually devoid of details.

Lovely build, clear panels lines and subtle weathering. Pit looks fantastic! Thumbs up!

I've got the Eduard L39 in my stash, 1/72 with a load of cockpit PE... I've never seen such small pieces before!
