I think I've seen that at Cosford!!! It's a Hunting H.126, built to test blown flaps, only one built. Ugly as Sin too smile

You are quite correct of course and she does indeed repose at the RAF Museum Cosford. yep

A visit to that museum is highly recommended especially on 17th June - RAF Cosford Air Show day.

The right one has the cross section of a B-24 Liberator. Could these have been used for drop tests to test chairs, with crash test dummies in them?

I'm going to hazard a guess that the left is (something like) a B-26 cross-section.
As for what's going on... I'm not quite sure. Are they being used as static ground gunnery targets, or being demobbed for such a purpose?
