Can we add a new map to the SimHQ server? Say Mana Island?

It is small, but not too small. Magnum would like it because it is great for tight squad-based infantry missions.

The oil rig is cool too.

Can the powers that be mul it over?

well i gave it a tester, i think its a bit TO small to be honest, not exactly an island that you could use over and over again without it all feeling very samey if ya get me??

Personaly i'd love to see Capraia, its nice n big, well detailed, and just different to what we have allready http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12961 smile

If a new map were added, it would most likely be a larger one, to increase replayability and mission-creation diversity. That's all I can say for now.

C'mon, Meatshield. Weren't you hyping this island before? Be consistent. biggrin http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3409696/cool_new_map.html#Post3409696

I'm not even sure new maps are even being considered, but anyway, how about Isla Lingor? http://www.icebreakr.info/lingor/media/

I would be in favor of any addition that promotes squad based infantry missions. I don't think I am alone in my preference for squad based coops and I would like to find a group of like minded players.

being consistent is boreing biggrin

The thing with lingor is that you need a few other addons for it to work, and its not exactly PC friendly in places. Capraia is all in on, small download, is pretty PC friendly, and based on a real island so has a beliveable layout, plus as i said before, its different to the stuff we have at the mo smile

That's why I threw out the Mana Island. Just something to throw into our mix that would be mostly squad based. Some new type terrain, jungle.

There are some missions out there for it. Give them a try and see what ya think.

I was playing around with new maps last weekend. Capraia was nice but what I didn't like was the lack of an airfield on the island itself. It has a man-made looking floating island base off the NW coast that is just kinda cheesy. It just feels like a bigger version of Utes. It did have a couple nice mountain roads however.

I liked Lingor quite a bit but the install was a PITA for sure. Several trips to armaholic for whatever else it needed to make the error messages go away.

What I do like about Lingor though is the jungle setting. Just seems we don't get alot of that type of setting in the missions we play.

Everybody gets everything they want. I wanted a mission. And for my sins..they gave me one.

Lingor has a lot of inland waterways. This adds nicely to the jungle setting but might be a problem with AI movement. I noticed the water depth changed with the weather so wade-able crossings for players would vary realistically. Maybe with the tides too, I didn't think to check that. Lots of variety with the shrubs and grasses including some tall (6+ ft) bunch grass that you can walk through but not see through. The higher elevations are more open. I didn't have any errors from my mod install. All the needed .pbo's seemed to be in the mod folder.

I liked Panthera too although it is less tropic than Lingor. Some inland waterways with crossings. The coastal areas are palm trees and lush shrubs but the elevated areas give way to pine trees and deciduous shrubs and trees. There are even some fall colors to the foliage. There is a good mix of open space and forest. The grasses are less dense and shorter than Lingor. I think the ground is more uneven in a subtle way. I noticed a lot of small dips, hollows, and humps a soldier could use for concealment and cover if he was laying down. Panthera has far more settlements and buildings than Lingor.

Just my 2 cents worth.
