and (b) he can't have cared that much for the kids given the later film's age ratings.
I think Revenge of the Sith was rated PG-13 but Episodes I and II were PG?

How many fantasies are about the peasant or orphan or whatever that turns out to be a lost prince or princess with the right to inherit a kingdom? THAT is the story of Star Wars turned around, it's a classic fairy tale with a twist. Luke wasn't a commoner, he was the son (prince) of Anakin/Vader, but he didn't know it until he met the wise sage (Obi Wan) who sent him on his journey. He was destined for the confrontation and victory or failure. He won, and while he himself won't take the galaxy, he did take it AWAY from those who had it. Anakin wasn't a commoner either. He was the child (prince) of the Force itself, although he also didn't know it until he met the wise sage (Qui Gon) who started him on his journey, one that was fated to end in tragedy. He decided the best way to beat them was to join them and he literally lost everything for his choice. But any old Jedi couldn't have done what he did, it was HIS destiny.
Being upset because SW proved not to be the fantasy tale you thought it was but a different one makes little sense.

Gawd, Ep1 and in 3D? My idea of hell lol LOL I hope to see Episode IV and V in 3D. Isn't GL planning to release one film each year and in sequence? I expect we can see these two films hit the theaters in 2014 and 2015 respectively?

The Jedi Master Two things: First, it's not about what it was, it's about where it started and where it went. It started off one way then later went another, and the different path taken wasn't liked as much by a lot of people as how it started. Second, being upset isn't the right word, but not liking SW because it proved not to be the fantasy tale I thought it'd be makes perfect sense, because I either like a movie/story or I don't, based on my own opinion. If I liked how it started but didn't like how it changed, that's my choice. By your logic, it seems that if I liked a dish served at a restaurant, and then later I went back and they added Clorox bleach to it, I should still like it because I liked it the first time I had it.

Hehe, for a while there I thought you were talking about the reimagined Battlestar Galactica.

No, bleach would make it lethal, and that's a big change. I'm saying you liked it when you thought it was a hamburger made from beef and it turned out to be made from turkey. At first you couldn't tell the difference, and you thought it tasted fine. You found out it was actually turkey, and with no other changes you decided now you do not like it. You don't like turkey? That's fine, but don't blame the cook for not giving you beef when you liked it when you thought it WAS beef.
"Wonderful hamburger." "It was a turkey burger." "What? Eww, I hate turkey!" "You just said you liked it a lot." "That was before I knew it was turkey!!!" "But you couldn't tell by the taste..." "Doesn't matter, the illusion is shattered!"
THAT is my logic. The story never changed. You just found it wasn't what you thought it was and somehow the guy that made it is at fault because you didn't see that from the start? That's the problem I have with all the prequel haters. This vaunted notion that somehow there is this major difference between the trilogies when there isn't. You could argue the technical side of making them I suppose, but the story was always there, we just never saw all of it. Every so-called "major" discrepancy I see people point out is NOT major. In their opinion it's major, perhaps because THAT detail really matters to them, but they're not seeing the forest for the trees. Finding out the hardwood forest is mahogany and not redwood doesn't make it a row of bushes. It's still a hardwood forest.

I guess I just have to disagree.
First, we didn't know many things until later, like that Leia was Luke's sister until the third movie, which makes the kissing stuff from the other movie creepy when you find out. Sure, in theory, she was always his sister in the earlier movies, but we didn't know that, and they sure weren't made to look like that.
That's one reason why I think my analogy works better - the story changes as you go along, and new elements are introduced, and I think in some cases, changed. To use a different analogy I've used before, if you made out with a hot chick and enjoyed it, then later found out it was a guy in drag, would you still feel like that make-out session was enjoyable? Would you still feel good about it when you thought about it?
The force is mystical and supernatural. No, wait! It's really just all about genetics! Luke wants to rescue a princess because she's beautiful and he's attracted to her, and a love triangle begins to develop around those two and Han. No, wait! Luke is her brother! To me, those thing equate to changing the original ingredients. I mean, why would someone like it at first, and not like it later? Something must have changed for that to happen.
I also think it's just bad story-telling in some ways. I mean, a book can be good right up until the ending, and have the ending ruin it, right? It doesn't matter if you enjoyed the earlier chapters, stories are sort of contained units, and what happens in one part can affect the enjoyment of others. SW is a story told in several parts, and the first parts were made a certain way, and implied certain things that many people liked. Later parts explained it differently than the initial impressions, and people didn't like that.

Completely agree with Arthonon.
The other irritant about midichlorians, whether you like your burgers made of turkey or beef, is that it was a completely unnecessary construct.
Serves no purpose whatsoever other than to irritate Starwars purists (unless that was the aim).
o Obi Wan meets Anakin for the first time, whips out Acme blood analyser, declares "my, this guy is a grade-A genetic force mutant!" o Obi Wan meets Anakin for the first time, puts hand to head and declares to Liam, "I've never felt the force so strong in one so young"
Why not just stick with the latter? Aside from the above scene, the whole midichlorian thing is barely given a mention in the remaining films. Why bother dicking around with one of the central tenets of the canon?
Same with the Han shoots first thing. "Because I'm George, and I can".
