The damage model is indeed one of the best features of the sim, although I can't say if it's better than DCS:A-10.
I personally love nursing a damaged aircraft back home, desperately checking the gauges and listening to a stuttering engine or two.
If the rest of the sim were on part with the damage model I'd be a very happy simmer.

I do not like the modern air games. The jet planes are too easy to fly or to technical to enjoy if realistically rendered. It is my opinion and I do share it! They have absolutely not the same feeling than the WW2 prop airplanes with their limitations. I did play some a long time ago the last one was “Lock on” a nice one also. Have fun with the games you like.

I'm just being the DCS ambassador here, but I'd say that modern aircraft certainly have limitations, especially within the context of symmetrical warfare. An A-10 may be easier to fly than a Spitfire, but then again I'm pretty sure you'll never have to try aerial refuelling in the Spitfire, for example. It's true that modern and historical sims differ greatly, but I've found that mastering flying skills or combat manoeuvres in either is equally rewarding.

I agree, nursing an aircraft to a airfield can be as exciting as a good dogfight, perhaps more cerebral.

Great story, Senseispcc! Got any more pics of battle-damaged aircraft?

Maybe I'm morbid, but I'm loving these pics! The fact that the skin is peeled back, exposing the structure underneath...the flames, smoke, bullet holes, missing control surfaces...

I hope some enjoy this pictures.
Yeah, I know the feeling, but here at SimHQ the tradition is that people only post to b!tch about the sim, not to show appreciation of the effort by actual fans of the sim. With that said I'm finished with reposting 1C update images, for non-1C-forum-members: nobody in the SimHQ forums gives a damn' anyway.
