We will be paying around fifty dollars an addon, plus fee patches for the next ten years or so. I think the days of free content we had in the original series are over, atleast until most of the COD issues are addressed. I agree our pay back in entertainment value will be far more than the minuscule cost we'll pay for that software.
Here is my problem: Being an offline flyer, for the the $50 dollars I have paid I have had ZERO entertainment so far. Many others have stated that they have shelved this til it's fixed, and they have got ZERO entertainment so far. The money may seem "minuscule" to you, but I generally don't hand out fifties to be an alpha tester so I can pay more money later for a playable product. I just hope the things that need fixing to make the offline play functional don't take another year and don't cost more money to make COD work as intended.

Yes some effort is required to enjoy the single player component of this sim. For me I spent a lot of time in the FMB tinkering and drinkering. But most could not be bothered and understandabely so.

Atleast you made an investment in the series, so its possible to have a sim to play in the future, rather than it being canelled. Personally I've had more than my monies worth already as my system runs COD well, and I'm learning the new CEM etc offline and making use of it online. I agree the offline experience is not much good for anything but practice flying, shooting, and CEM. The next patch should make the sim stable on most systems, and hopefully they will include some fixed game play issues aswell. The developer hasn't said anything, but I think there will be plenty of time before the release of the sequel for another free patch for COD that will address even more of the game play issues.

I hope your right Chivas. And as I have stated many times before, COD runs quite smooth on my system right now. That's not the problem. It's the offline experience that is lacking some entertainment value. I think Steam shows I have played for 6 hours, probably 4 hours or so were spent testing, tweaking, and re-testing to get it running nicely...there just isn't much to do with it after that til they fix some key things.

It is true that MG have a very odd game design philosophy (game design? where? - I know...) Most game houses would start by plotting out gameplay, menu structure, campaign, player career trajectory, scoring, etc, then construct the sim aspect to support this. MG's approach is to build a sim, add combat ability in it, then wrap a tissue paper of interface around it, stuck on with cello tape, and offer it like a present wrapped by a five year old.
Makes you wonder if they had a team working on the game structure who mutinied at the last minute and destroyed four years of gameplay development and ran off to siberia. I mean, would they really just not bother to try to develop a game structure at all?

The explanation is sooo easy, they've developed a simulation!
Gaming was always secondary, like a afterthought, or nice to have.
And with the shortened deadline they've had other, more important things to do as a career system i. e.

Sooo they created a simulation on how it feels to fly WWII planes but a lot of us were hoping for being able to simulate being a WWII pilot. At least the previous installments attempted to do this with ranks, etc. I know, times change and they aren't focusing on making the games immersive anymore. It's funny that anyone would consider 7 years of developement a "shortened deadline". That's funny!

Sorry Force, but nobody here has to explain or excuse the plight of this sim

they've had other, more important things to do as a career system i. e. Which is probably one of the reasons why this (and many other) flight sim has not sold that well in the West, and probably would not even if it had not been as buggy as an ant farm. Feeling like you are playing the part of WWII pilot is just as important as getting the physics right.
