@ Robtek.. ''jumping to conclusions'' C'mon now, I'm a grown up, if I want to jump to a conclusion I can do, there is no law against that. And how will my post have any effect on CoD's chances in general? Will the firm go bust or the world slump into a bigger recession? I've just seen that I'm apparently endangering your future fun???? I have to say for a man of your age you appear to be living in some sort of transonic state.. where a random comment about a pc game can somehow threaten your fun=existance

I bought into IL2 because I loved WWII air combat. I bought into CoD because I thought Oleg was giving the community a more advanced/complex air combat sim. It had problems as we all know, but I held out the belief that they would come good for what was a passion of mine, and for many others. If I buy into BoM I will be getting a more advanced/complex Battlefield 1942?.. I strongly believe now they are heading down the wrong path if they want to regain the 'crown' of WWII air combat simulation. The developers built a new game engine that will allow far more realistic features to be implemented, most of those features combat flight sim related. The developers are a group of combat flight sim enthusiasts who's passion is obviously combat flight sims so all of their efforts will be to develop the best combat flight sim possible. Because they have a guy developing a more realistic ground vehicle model shouldn't in any way downgrade the flight sim characteristics. I can see the development putting more resources into a combined forces sim only after all the theaters and all air combat features are fleshed out. Having someone slowly developing a ground and sea aspect module during that time will shorten the time to develop a combined forces sim without adversely effecting the continued work on the flight sim series. Having a more realistic ground environment means a more immersive air environment.

Cheers Mr B,
Yep, I'm just keen for the patch for perhaps different reasons than most because:
- CloD runs ok on my machine, graphic-wise. I can get annoyed on others behalf that it crashes or doesn't run that well, but obviously there's only so far my empathy can last when I get to fly ok.
- When this patch is out hopefully the title can move on, as I feel we're just treading water at the moment i.e. get an SDK out, let people start hacking away at it. I've seen lots of PC titles where the devs go run and hide about 15 minutes after pushing it out the door, so if this is some sort of 'long con' then it's the worse one I've ever seen. I subscribe to the 'perhaps inept, but not evil' school of thought.
- Time-wise there are so many decent things to play recently (both sim and non-sim) and while I do wrinkle an occasional brow that the Russian software team making the Russian market-leading air sim has rudely chose to base the sequel in Russia rather than the Med, I'd not reach for the either extreme of pom poms or pistols over it.
After the patch, if the graphics engine gets a good going over then the next major complaint will be the single player AI and campaign (re:every other sim ever) or some other drama that will involve much rage over why the Fuel Truck has a playable cockpit while the Wellington hasn't..

Anyone who thinks that constant sniping and negativity doesn't hurt a games chances of survival should look at what Jason of 777 says about that at the RoF forums. As for an agenda, some people have one, as witnessed by the idiot who used different user names to vote in a poll, and the guy, perma banned here I believe, who used three different names to stir up trouble in an update thread a while ago. All a bit weird and pathetic, but there you go.Maybe they will be happy when all we have left are console games. These people do nobody who like this hobby any favours.

I'm looking forward to playing as a flak gunner. Been wanting to do that for ages. Sure it might only be fun for an hour or two, but I still want to do it. Playing as other fighting vehicles might be fun for awhile too.
Seriously, this is the first thing in MONTHS that has actually gotten me interested in booting the game up again.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

So what's the deal with that ground vehicles video ? Is that the reason why the patch's been delayed for so long ? Have they been listening to anything the community's been saying ?
What's the point of adding new content on such shaky foundations ? Fix the graphics, fix the FM, fix the comms, give us a campaign worthy of the name, then we'll start talking useless ground vehicles...
They're starting to make Whirlwind over Vietnam look like a decently managed project by comparison. At least they had the decency not to add insult to injury.
Cheers
Nico

You are right there Uther - some dont se that and never will. The ground activities (according to the last update) will "not" be added yet or in the near future AND! The ground war have alway`s been part of the planning for clod, so nothing new there realy. saf

saf So why spend time and resources on it now, when there are much more pressing matters to attend to ? 3D and texture artists probably have a lot of time on their hands to work on such projects, but wouldn't the time it must have taken to work on the programming / DM part of the ground vehicles have been better spent on planes' DM and FM ? Besides, I didn't see any improvement on the engine in that video. Lack of FSAA is still apparent even despite the poor image quality. Cheers Nico

simulate the actual BoB experience? You don't say... Anyway the experience obviously won't be complete without Spit Girl's rideable bicycle, cottage and adorable fox terrier Mr Sniffles implemented. Oh and the milkman's lorry properly modeled too ! Cheers Nico

I made a post before release and said we wouldn't be getting a Battle of Britain simulator, i said it would be "a small scale engagement over the coast with BOB planes simulator " i wasn't wrong.
