You'll appreciate the community more once you start getting confused and post here (or the A10 boards) for answers. Just don't mind Mace's off-topic responses biggrin

I don't see it as going off topic, just slightly skewing it smile

Agree with most of what is written above. If you are coming from FSX/FS9 then the A-10 is probably a bit easier to pick up and fly. But the feeling of accomplishment with learning to fly and run the systems of the Black Shark can't be understated. In in a MP environment there is a particularly perverse pleasure in sneaking up on an A-10 base in the BS and attacking it from afar with Vikhr missiles.

biggrin

Enjoy your new ride and welcome to the community..

I recall escorting PanzerTard on a 2.5 hour trip to do exactly that. He alone, or with a wingman, I forget which - took a Ka-50 with vikhrs and fuel.

EtherealN and I gave him top cover in our F-15's and basically played AWACS for him until he went under a SAM umbrella where we couldn't follow. He ended up near Maykop, and Maykop got kinda sorta owned. Then we had to do another 2.5 hour escort to bring him back, IIRC. It was definitely an interesting experience, with the airbase at the right distance more or less (note that he flew optimum speed - 130Kph IAS) and there were other factors dictating the choice of target (not expected to see a heli that far, not on the main fighter threat axis, terrain, etc etc).

Personally, the only time I'd worry about Ka-50's sneaking up on me though is if the mission creator stuck everything close together, which is somewhat lame.

One other important point in your decision making process....helicopters can fly backwards.... neaner

Helicopters vs. Jets

Be aware of vulgar language in the video....

If you get BS, I'd recommend BS2 over BS
