Hi there,

I have been a follower of the forums for a while however, this as you can proberlly tell is my first post, I am looking to grab one (if not both in future) the DCS games between black shark and a - 10.

I was just wondering if there are any of you out there who could perhaps give a reccomendation of which to get as a new comer to the series (Most flight sim experience is with microsoft flight sim 3 years ago, and the il2 series including clod).

I do not seek a "which is better" response in all honesty and do not wish to seem ignorant with this, it is literally down to a indecisive fact of "which one".

I am mainly intending to play the one i buy online after learning the ropes via the training and single player - so another question i put forward i suppose is what is there a lack of - the a 10s or the sharks? - and from my understanding both a-10 and black shark are compatible with each other online so you can play cross client?

Many thanks for reading this,

Bigfoot89

Well...

Personally I prefer the Shark. The flying experience is very satisfying when it goes well.

Online there's generally more A10 pilots.

I don't think you can go far wrong with either sim. There's plenty of challenge in both.

Have fun, whichever you choose.

Thanks for the reply vitesse!, the general more a10 pilots may sway my choice mor towards the shark aswell!, after all, we all want a challenge that hopefully then leads to a fair playing field no? ;),

Thanks again,

No idea why you would think that. This isn't an online MMO where PvP between A-10 and BS pilots occur, though there have been A-10 and BS fights a few times. Like I said on the other thread, fly what you like. There are more than enough pilots on either side, though I think A-10 pilots are a lot more active now since the A-10 is newer.

There's no fair playing field in a Ka-50 vs A-10C fight. The A-10C is superior is almost every respect wink

Black Shark 2 *AND* A-10C

Black Shark offers a much more challenging flight enirvonment - the learning curve on basic flight is a lot higher than your typical flight sim. The weapons systems are, by comparison to the A-10, are simple, but still requires systems-level knowledge and practice. Maintaining flight and employing the weapons systems simultaneously in a combat situation can be a challenge.

A-10C offers signficant depth in systems knowledge - DSMS weapons profiles, flight plan management, SOI vs SPI, CCIP vs. CR vs CCRP, datalink messaging, etc. - but flying the Hog is much simplier than flying the Ka-50.

I think learning to fly should come before learning to fight, but learning to fly the Ka-50 won't help you fly the DCS A-10C. I guess it comes down to which system do you like more?

After all, what fun is a game oyu intend to play multiplayer at some point, if the people you are playing with do not like to talk to one another eh?

Thanks!
