Does CoD have a mission that can be used for trying out each of the aircraft
by doing just takeoffs and landings?

You know...Start on the ground, pick an aircraft, take off etc etc...

Single Player - Quick Missions - Cross Country

..then double click to change aircraft. If you pick a Blue one then it's an exciting take-off re:flak as you're in the UK smile

Either that or just plonk an aircraft down in the Full Mission Builder, as it's not too hard to fiddle with (plus you get to choose places you know to take off from)

Thank you F...F...

I haven't been in "Jolly-ol-England" since 1959 so I don't believe I remember the area to well..ha ha..

Actually I am still trying to sort out the control settings that I'll need,, and how to set them.

I have CH Fighterstick, Pro throttle and Pro pedals + track IR but from what I am reading (very confusing reading)
I don't know just how to setup something useful between the keyboard and the flight control buttons.

I just have an old MS SW Force Feedback thing (older than my kids teacher I think) but I just did the following to bumble my way through:

- Options - Controls - Axes (sort of a tab like layout)

In the Aircraft category just clicked into the various Aileron/Elevator/Rudder/Throttle areas under 'Command' and wiggled (the devices each time that is). For TrackIR I don't think I did anything, as in I think it may just work ok.

The keyboard bits I tend to remember is hitting 'M' to turn off the mirrors (they don't work that well for the FPS hit they use) plus the bizaare windowing system the game uses, i.e. you have to hold down 'Left ALT' and click into a window, and then right mouse button menu to bring up it's options (plus resize/drag it around by its title bar too). The other thing that seems to confuse new players is that 'F10' is the thing that turns the mouse pointer on and off.

Ahhh, thanks again for the very useful info.

I just want to get into the hurricane, sit on the ground and try to figure out what does what.

I am going to try the full controls scenario just for grinns and I'm hoping that there isn't
to much conflict between those small cluttered gages, and my cataracts.

I know that the learning curve is bound to be a long one...

any more useful control settings would be much appreciated..
I had not figured out the F10 until you told me...thanks...

Take a look through the tips and tweaks sub forum, there should be enough there to get you started. Above all open your radiators, you won't last long if you try to take off with them closed.

Actually, it's quite safe to pick a blue aircraft, as it changes your nationality to Red. For example, you'll be flying a Ju-88 with roundels on it. I don't believe the mission itself has any AA on either side of the channel.
