Hi,
Something is badly wrong here!. I've lowered just about all settings including turning forests off and still no improvement in FPS. I've tried keygets (sp.) dll and the low res texture mod and made the corresponding changes to the launcher config file and also added the command line switches but again to no avail. It is as if the game fails to switch the video card to 3D mode even my framerates in the GUI (measured with FRAPS) are only 0/1/2FPS. I did disable the gui into movie to see if that helped and also disabled any power saving mode in the nvidia profile but it looks like it's not switching modes. Any ideas chaps?. Bizare, I get 40FPS in Red Orchestra 2 with everything maxed out and good FPS on pretty much every other game including about 50/60FPS in Silent Hunter 5.
Thanks and regards

To test the GPU not clocking correctly, you could download and use this: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/Leave it running while CloD starts/plays and see the 2nd tab ('Sensors, with 'Continue refreshing..' ticked on) to see if your GPU Core Clock does ramp up or not. As for the overall issue, I don't have anything DX9'y to try with so not sure. Usually about here, people saying something bland and generic like 'Drivers!' but tbh I don't know. A wildcard idea would be something like get Steam to check your files are ok, i.e. find CloD in your Steam library, and do the right mouse button menu for 'Properties' and then a 'Local Files' tab folowed by a 'Verify Integrity..' button.

Only other thing I can think of is that it's worth regenerating (i.e. renaming it and restarting) your 'conf.ini' file (same place as where the 'cache' folder starts from) Maybe the setup is confused, and someone that uses DX9 ok could compare your settings? The rendering bits from mine look like this (on DX10):
[BOB]
EpilepsyFilter=0
[window]
DepthBits =32
StencilBits=16
DrawIfNotFocused=0
SaveAspect=0
Render=D3D10_0
width=5292
height=1050
posLeft=0
posTop=0
ColourBits=32
FullScreen=1
ChangeScreenRes=1
Frequency=60
StereoMode=0

You wouldn't happen to have the Epilepsy Filter turned ON, its needs to be OFF.

Hi chaps,
Thanks for your sugestions, I have the anti-epilepsy filter turned off in-game but I will check my conf.ini settings, thanks for posting the example settings m8 though I think that sadly my hardware and OS aren't up to it. I might upgrade the video card and maybe get Windows 7 and setup as dual boot when funds permit although it will be quite a while until I have that amount of spare cash but until then I'll hope that they optimise things enough for me to get some gameplay out of it. I'm trying to avoid all the hassle of going to great lengths just to get this one game working when all my other games work extremely well with XP and DX9. Considering the fact that my joystick is also knackered it's going to be an expensive job getting CLOD to run and I cannot justify it as there are lots of features that either weren't implimented (such as the dynamic campaign, were poorly implimented (like the QMB) or don't simply don't work as advertised (kill markings, mixed ammo belts etc. etc.). I'm sure that most of these will get fixed at some stage so I'll leave it installed for the time being.
Kind regards and thanks again for your help.

I just had a thought, I have a Windows Vista disc at home that came with my PC. I absolutely hated Vista and almost the first thing that I did was un-install it and install XP. Maybe, rather that splash out on Windows 7, I'll think about the possobilities of putting it to some user and installing a dual boot Windows Vista/XP. Anyone have any experience of running CLOD with Vista?. At least I'll get DX10 and my video card can handle DX10. Might that be a reasonable idea?.
Regards

Honestly I wouldn't bother with Vista ... it's simply too much of a resource hog, especially with your rather low-end specs. I found Win7 to be much faster and less resource-hungry. As for your system and CloD the CPU and the RAM would be enough, but I'm afraid the GTX 260 is the largest issue here. That coupled with XP and DirectX 9 makes the whole affair pretty pointless. I wonder why MG even bothered with DX 9 at all.

Thanks Christian,
Then I'm stuffed, no way that I can afford Windows 7, a second hard disk to install it on, a new graphics card and a joystick. We're talking about £400 and I simply haven't got that cash.
Edit: What's a good graphics card for running CLOD, best "bang for th buck"? as I'm really out of date in my hardware awareness nowdays since i've long since ceased to be that interested in following the latest hardware developments.
Cheers
Leigh
