GAMEFAQS READER REVIEW

..and i quote

This guy really is amusing lol..

Quote:
Spending ten minutes straight flying and then being done with combat without firing a shot because your allies destroyed the objective may happen in real life, but in a game, it's just not worth playing. That sort of hits the nail on the head: there is no point to playing this game. It's not fun at all, and you don't have any sense of achievement. Minesweeper is better in both regards.

bring on minesweeper ! biggrin

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

Wow, definitely a console type of player not interested in learning how to play the sim.

That is like giving "The Godfather" 0/10 because there was not enough Kung Fu.

Why don't you guys write your own reviews at that site? They allow anyone to do so. Talk the game up if you don't like weenies like that writing stupid stuff. Simple as that.

I didn't want to have to register at another site just to rebut a review that is almost 4 years old.

This is what happens when a Y-generation playstation kid "reviews" a flight sim. He never talked about FM, DM, AI... man what a "review"...

Found that "review" quite funny biggrin

I was actually surprised to see that he conceded that IL-2 '46 is quite highly rated by others and "compared to other games" [FPS, I'm guessing] that he likes, it "sucks"..

Maybe it is time for new review of the game right here. There are maybe a dozen combat flight sim games out and a few non combat ones. Several are online only. Some offline only. My perspective is that while I enjoy IL2 - it excels in some things and lacks in others. So just what do you all think the game excels in and what do you find weak?

I will start it out on one point:
PRO: IL-2 has the best on line connection and most stable in existence giving the best massive free for all dog fights available.
CON: IL-2 does not (at least not that I have ever seen) present a set of 20 plus bombers coming in with 9 fighter escort LOOKING like I have seen WW2 footage and how European Air War and Wings of Prey does.
