T-6-1, first prototype of the T-6, which later entered service as the Su-24 after some changes.

Yep, a prototype of the Su-24. No swingwing butr instead four extra jets to improve short-field performance... Sounds rather harebrained.

Yes! That lasted all of four minutes.

The Czechs flogged some to the IAF in 1948. The first one arrived in the belly of a Dakota. There was some irony there because the Egyptians had been bombing Tel Aviv with Dakotas(!)

Squadron Commander Moddy Allon was so peeved about this that he was waiting for them one morning and when two of them duly arrived he was on hand to shoot both down - the first IAF victory in the Avia and probably in that conflict.

Far below in the streets of Tel Aviv they danced their little feet off for the rest of the day.
