I guess I didn't, I just know I don't want one that the bayonet can only be moved out of the way...was never a fan of that type of set-up.

Yeah, I agree that the M38 has a "cleaner" look to it. But, the Russians loved their bayonets, that's for sure. biggrin

Agreed, they liked to hold on to the old ways, even though those ways didn't really work too well anymore. Those bayonets might come in handy though, perhaps when the zombies take over. hahaha

And the thing is that Russian bayonets are like giant sharpened screwdrivers. I certainly wouldn't want to be stabbed by one of those things. eek

Heehee, yes that would suck, especially since they're so narrow & plenty long enough to go all the way through...and it wouldn't be just the pain of it going through you, there's the whole mess of pulling the thing back out again. Ouch, makes me shudder just thinking about it. eek

{on the Mosin Nagant bayonet}

"You can bayonet your foe on the other side of the river without leaving the comfort of your hole." rofl

Humorous comparison of the AK47, AR15, and the Mosin Nagant

Yeah, Bill that list killed me last time I saw it, been sharing it with friends ever since. hahaha

My favorite is: "When out of ammo, your rifle makes a supreme war club, pike, boat oar, tent pole, or firewood."

Speaking of huge Russian guns, nothing beats the PTRD for pure hugeness:

Yep!

Speaking of M44s, I'm taking my new one to the range today. I hope it's better than the last two I've owned - they were both nice to look at, but the first one had bolt & feed system issues, and the second one had an awful trigger.
