I'm getting rid of my Smith&Wesson M&P 9 Pro since I can't get used to it's trigger. So instead of spending more time and ammo trying to learn it, I've put it up for sale and went and bought myself a new handgun today.

The CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.

This is a good quality and precise weapon which is one of the most popular weapons for use in IPSC Production. I testfired someone elses gun last weekend to see how I would do with it (something I did not do with the S&W, to my regret), and after debating a little I landed on it (other candidates was Tanfoglio Match II/Limited and P226 X-Five (too expensive, unfortunately)) and picked up mine today. After a quick cleaning to get rid of the factory grease and light oiling it was ready for the range tonight. Gave it the first 50 rounds of ammo and mostly pleased with how I shot, will get better as I get acquainted with the gun.

What was in the package, including the extra magazine I picked up. Will probably pick up one more so I have five.

A nice handgun, fits well in my hand and has a big thumb safety on both side.

Features a nice tritium sight making it each to put it on the target.

The view down the sights.

So hopefully this gun will fit me better than the S&W. Ideal would have been the P226, but I couldn't justify spending $1500 more on that gun for my intended usage.

Love the Ambi-safety. And do you mean it has fiber optic sights?
How is the mag release? Easy to get to?
I guess I am going to have to rent a CZ 75 one day to find out how they shoot. I always hear good things about them.

Looks nice, I like the low profile on the slide, however does it hamper the racking of the weapon?

Good gun, they are REALLY popular in Canada...ever since they were new to market back in around 1980-ish, they were regarded as a top quality 9mm for bottom dollar pricing! Well, now they are a bit more expensive, but the quality is still there, and the reputation has built up over the last 30 years. CZ actually offered a "Canada Edition" Shadow last year! Eh, looked good but too much of a markup from a normal model, so it didn't sell well, but the regular ones still go like hotcakes.

IMO, this is basically a "Browning HiPower Version 2.0". From me, that's high praise too. I like their products, own one of their rifles, and it's been impressing me a lot...they know how to build guns with the best of them. No, wait, they ARE among the best. Yea, that sounds more like it.

Nice, really like CZ pistols. Several friends have 9mm 75's, and I've got a 9mm metal frame 2075 that I carry when I'm not carrying a .45acp. I don't have a problem with the low profile slide, and really like the fact it fires double action if needed...excellent carry piece, especially with the night sights.

Going to take it to a competition tomorrow so I had to get some practice in today.

Shooting some generic IPSC targets.

Since I'm going to a Steel Challenge match, decided to get some steel practice in.

Once that was over, I took out the Mini-14 for some fun shooting. Hadn't shot it since before the July 22nd massacre.

Cam mounted on my ear protections.

Cam mounted underneath the Mini-14 on a small rail there. Got a feeding jam I had to clear halfway.
