I tried to sign in to XBL on my phone yesterday to see if a coworker had confirmed a friend request since he is new to XBL and wasn't sure how to do it. When I logged in it kicked me over to a page that said my gamertag violates the Terms of Use and I have to change it. I have had the same gamertag since I signed up for the service 4 years ago and the last time the Terms were updated was Nov 2010. Does anyone know if there is a way to appeal it since I don't think there is anything wrong with the tag.

I know that there is a forum for that kind of stuff on the xbox website. Not sure if that will help you or not. They to tend to get hyper-sensitive about stuff anymore.

Yeah, I was looking at that. I was thinking there might be another way to actually talk to someone since all they do there is copy and paste back the Terms of Use.

Gamertags containing profanity usually are filtered,
people are bypassing bypassing the filter by changing letters/numbers,
If they see it or are made aware of it, they will ask you to change change it.

then again, last two nights on Forza, I ended up stomping some guy with the GT "Ch1ldR4p15t",
lets just say he was not asked to change his gamertag, and I wont be seeing him no more, ever.

as well as part of the moderator team, so i can do more than other people think via my Windows Live Login to The XBL Moderator Dashboard (website). I however, cannot overturn decisions by other moderators, we can only refer to the admins. but gamertag changes are rarely overturned, as they arent usually given with out cause.

I know it is based off of a name for a dog you knew but to be fair it is a fairly offensive tag lol at least I always though so.

My guess is that you finally got reported enough that you landed on their radar.

I dont think you are going to be able to squeak by now either. They hit me for "master" on the PS3 network and wouldnt let me use any variation that would come back to "master." so I settled with retsam (master backwards).

Skatezilla, my gamertag was fumducker81. I know you can make it sound bad, but as it is now I think if you take it to that length and find it offensive then you are going to spend a lot of time in your life worrying about things like that. It certainly isn't any worse than Fuddruckers which is a restaurant chain (not sure if they have one in your area or not) or any phrase that could sound dirty by adding "thats what she said" to it. It doesn't make sense that my gamertag is considered to violate the code of conduct when there are games with achievements titled "Gang bang" "FUBAR" "SNAFU" that are certainly at least as suggestive as my gamertag if not more so.

Also, quick backstory, the tag came from the name of the dog that my dad's MP unit adopted when he was in Vietnam.

Either a XBL Admin stumbled across it, or some sore loser sent bad feedback.

my neighbor had to change his from "pudknocker" as XBL said it was offensive.





They did, they closed the location (without warning to anyone) a few months ago because the building was old, and it was damaged by that lil earthquake we had,

People showed up and it was chained closed, eventually the owner corp. sent out letters.

I ended up just taking the vowels out. Similar, but mostly because I wanted to play some mw3 last night when I had some free time and hadn't come up with a decent alternative.
