It always cracks me up to hear the guys at Richmond complaining that the track hates them.
The secret to running Richmond is to get right on the yellow line in the corners, then slowly get on the gas. You do have to develop a sense for when to accelerate so you stay off the wall, but I have not hit the wall coming off the turns since I figured out this strategy.
Too many drivers try to overdrive Richmond. I go pretty slowly into the turns and come out fast. I think too many guys are overbraking, trying to control through the turn, then pushing the truck. Once your tires start to go you simply cannot get away with that.
Real easy into the turn, right on the stripe, and look ahead to the straightaway.
Here is another tip if you run a 120 lapper there. One tank of gas will not do it. I was running 2nd there the other day and starting running out of gas with about 5 to go. I had to ease up a bit, got passed by the 3rd car and sputtered across the finish line.
