I have been looking into the web more training material or tutorials for Graviteam Games. I noticed one at the top of the forum page which is good.

I was going to purchase Operation Star but was a bit concerned about the interface after reading some reviews. I remembered one of my freinds had Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943. When I asked for a demo he had to admit he had not worked it out. I am used to the Combat Mission series, and after a quick look I had to agree very hard to understand.

I am keen to give one of the Graviteam game a try but I feel I will need more information than I have found so far to work it out.
I fond the manual page at Graviteam and not much there for Operation Star. The tactics manual looks fairly complicated.

Are there any Youtube videos the explain the game play in english.

The games look great but a little more training material would not go astray.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards MarkL

Hey there!

If you like Combat Mission series and/or Close Combat series, then I highly recommend to check out Achtung Panzer: Operation Star. It really is a good tactical wargame and it's different from other similiar games.

Fore more information and help, check out this fan-site:

http://graviteam-games.goodluckwith.us/

There you can find information about the newest Graviteam games, news, patches and MANUALS.

If you get the game, I really recommend you to always install newest patches! The patches are not just fixes, but also increase unit density, add new features and even some content! Also carefully read the manual, even if it doesn't tell you everything and might be slightly outdated. The user interface and controls might look difficult at first, but in the end it's much better (in my opinion) than Combat Mission has. Remember that the game is not like other games and commands work in somewhat different way. And have some patience.

You may also download the demo, but it's outdated at the moment. Maybe it gets updated in the near future. Hopefully this answers to some of your questions.

Yes if you like Combat Mission, particularly the first generation games, and you like the Eastern Front theatre you'll probably like APOS.
Just keep in mind these guys are a small development group, so while it has some neat features Combat Mission lacked, theres no multiplayer and the mission editing process is very different. Also I dont know if its because theyre a small indie group or that theyre eastern Europrean but the GUI takes some getting used to than with a more mainstream game. Almost like theyre thought process was different. Thats not a bad thing, and as some have already commented its refreshing. But getting into it theres a few WTF moments when your trying to figure out how to do something.

Hey guys, just noticed Graviteam updated their website with some new directories at the bottom (and top) of the main page. Heres one from the HELP directory that might be of interest.

Thanks to the link to the page with the manual.
I also found an Operation Star manual on another page, but it is no where near as detailed as that Blaze of War one.

I will get the demo and try to make sense of the "Tactics" manual, as I am sure the 3D battle view will be a lot easier to interpret than the tactics phase.

But I am sure a bit more info may net them more sales. Perhaps pay some of the forum members by free DLC to help them out there.

Anyway thanks for the advise and encouragement.

Regards
