Battleship will have an Iowa class firing it's guns on a movie theater sound system. I'm going.

Pity about Ayn Rand, I don't agree with her, but there's a great book in Atlas Shrugged - it just needed to be edited savagely.

(A 70 page speech? Really?)

Well, see it's not really a true "trailer", but rather a "teaser", meant to simply get people knowing that the project is going forward. There's no footage yet for a "trailer" because the principle photography is slated to start in April!

If nothing else, it shows how you can start a feature movie and put it in theatres in under a year.

With no need for FX, that's easily done. It's the extensive post production time needed that makes films take over a year to make. Without it, you can easily spend 3 months prepping, 3 months shooting, and 3 months in post and get a great film made.

Guy Pearce. I liked his work in Memento and bit role in The Road.

Wasn't particularly impressed with his role in Time Machine, but that might have just been the script.

Iron Sky looks like huge fun. It is a crowd-funded Finnish production, so it will probably not receive widespread theatrical release. Look for it on Blu-Ray (or whatever). Another couple of interesting recent sci-fi films from overseas that are harder to find, but worth a look, are the Japanese Space Battleship Yamato and Tamil's Endhiran (Robot).

I own a Hindi copy of Endhiran on Blu-Ray, and it is one of the most entertaining movies I have seen in years. My kids went nuts for it. It will probably eventually see an English dub, but is currently tied up in litigation. (Is that getting to be a tired mantra or what?) IF you decide to chase it down, be prepared for a uniquely Bollywood take on sci-fi (Every Bollywood film is very long and very musical). The Hindi Blu-Ray is excellent, although you have to use the 5.1 audio track (The DTS track is missing a channel). I think the Tamil version is fine. From what I hear, the DVD's are only of fair quality, and annoyingly watermarked.
