Came out on Steam today for about $19 USD (about $5 cheaper than the publishers website) if anyone is looking for a new space sim other than X3 Albion. Seems quite good from what I've played through so far and I quite like the functional cockpit and TIR support and the way inertia is handled in the "flight" model but it's only been a couple of hours so it'll be interesting to see if it continues ok. Multiplayer is available too. Cheers, Stonehouse an fyi - game site review http://www.gamearena.com.au/pc/games/title/evochron-mercenary/reviews.php?id=5088861

I have bought Evocron Mercenaries and Evocron Legends. It is a great game (get legends if you can it is newer). It is kind of lonely out there though. I would not mind some space pals to fly with. Here is a tip buy the collectors as soon as you can (I forget what they are called because it has been a while but you will know them when you see them). I parked at a planetary station and just collected tons of oxygen and sold it to the station for profit (no cost after the initial purchase). Good way to get bank going. It can also be used to refill your fuel near a star (you can even sell fuel but not too much!). Don't get too close to the star though or it will suck you in (gravity). It is a GREAT game and the programmer for it is very friendly and helpful. As a side note you REALLY need to check out Infinity The Quest For Earth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp8WOCuR_pQMillions of star systems Billions of Planets Planets Rotate Planets revolve around their suns Moons revolve around their planets Everything is effected by gravity Graphics on par with FSX

Ok Quicksilver, you've confused me. Yeah I know it's easily done I went looking for info about Legends and looking at http://www.starwraith.com/ it looks like Mercs post dates Legends. Did mean your post to read the other way around and just made a typo or is Legends really newer than Mercs? They sound almost the same. Anyway, found some mod activity that looks interesting http://www.starwraith.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=21 Now just have to get all the controls sorted out with my X52. One question though, I'm docked at a station with the inventory screen up and in the stations comms I see that I've been sent a trade offer and it says to bring up the trade screen. I don't seem to be able to do that without undocking (ie closing the inventory screen) is there a trick to it? or do you just leave it until you've finished at the station and undock? Cheers, Stonehouse

Not to worry m8. I wouldn't have found the mod thread in the starwraith forum if not for your typo. So it helped me in the end Cheers, Stonehouse

Nearly bought this last night, saw a couple of gameplay videos and it looks quite good. I like that it supports Freetrack as well. I havent played any space games since Wing Commander which I really enjoyed, but the lack of proper inertia got on my nerves! Turn off the thrusters and you slow to a halt as if you're flying through sludge. Will buy this tonight if its still on sale.
Wow that was the quickest Steam download ever, less than 4 mins, firing her up now.

The universe is beyond extreme (I hate using that word but it's absolutely relevant to the subject.). If anyone wants help getting started I would be more than happy to give you some starter tips. I've also collected, what I believe to be, the "best of" community contributions, and I've even done a few mods myself. You can look at 'em here if your interested: | (No) Sound in Space v2.0 (EM/AA) | Music in Space (EM) | Thanks for the URLs Brennus. Just started to go through the tutorials last night. I didn't know it supported TrackIR...DUH! Any help and pointers appreciated. And I wonder if you could post a list of those great mods you got...

Here's my personal collection of mods, excluding NSiS and MiS. It includes an upgraded Cockpit/HUD, improved 3d models for capital ships, and collection of various other improvements. And if you crash on load you'll need to unlock your executable to use more memory. Here's the linkage: | Evochron Mercenary | Large Address Aware |
