It will definitely have a very different feel to it without Matt Damon but I'll keep an open mind and see what the reviews are like.

I hope this will be good, and not just a money-making exercise. Jeremy Renner sure gets around a lot these days I liked him in Hurt Locker and Ghost Protocol. He seems to be one of those newly-emerged stars that gets cast in a lot of movies nowadays, him and Tom Hardy.

Is that a reboot or a sequel... cause if it is a sequel why even call it bourne anything if there is no jason bourne... also how do they get away with this crap. The only bourne movie even close to the books was the first one and they jumped the shark 30 minutes into it.
Considering how ****ing amazaing the bourne books were and how they would almost directly transfer to a movie why couldnt they just follow the books closely. They would have had much better and popular movies...
Also... for the love of god please dont let this one have shaky-cam... The last bourne movie felt like I was watching the blare witch project.

I've not read the Bourne books but weren't they based very much on the Cold War era? By and large, Cold War era stories are seen as being outdated and irrelevant by Hollywood now.

Every time Hollywood "updates" a Cold War scenario by massively changing the script, it ends up a disaster. That said, I haven't read the Bourne books, but I think the movies are really good! And look at Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy: It isn't updated in the least, and it was bloody fantastic! So I blame Hollywood

By following a different agent initiated into Treadstone/Black Briar, it looks like they've effectively been able to do a reboot of the series without necessarily breaking canon, and I'd guess that it runs concurrently with and past the end of the old Matt Damon movies. The trailer reeked of "mindless action flick" to me whilst hanging onto the plot arcs of the CIA programmes just for the purposes of context. Hope I'm wrong, as I quite liked the other three.

So I blame Hollywood Keep in mind though that high quality is not the same thing as being a box office blockbuster and it's the latter that Hollywood mostly cares about. And of course, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was not a Hollywood production.

And of course, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was not a Hollywood production. Sadly, this seems to be the case But I do hope TTSS will do good, and it seems it's doing OK at the box office at the moment. The worst case of high quality not being properly appreciated is IMO "Master and Commander".
