I was attacking a D.VII with two of my 'mates' when I got hit. Not by him because he was directly in front of me and the other D.VII I clobbered was in another skirmish. At the time I put it down to 'Archie', finished of the Fokker and limped back to base with an oiled covered windscreen.

Surprised to find that the rotter, Sgt.Chapman had been credited with moi. He was even more surprised to see me walk into the Mess with an order for him to attend two weeks 'spud bashing'. If he has a personal grudge against me, it can be addressed on the field of honour.

Anyway, never seen that before.

Well, what did you do to HIM? Or rather to his girlfriend Mathilde over in the next village? Rumours of your dastardly behaviour have spread fast in the squadron and you shouldn't expect any sympathy from your fellow pilots.

Memo to me: as Squadron commander, NEVER assign "Irv" to my flight!

Keep him around!

If he can get a friendly that he didn't actually shoot down accepted as valid and count towards his score, think of the defense he could put up as your defense lawyer at a courts martial!

Very good point! But upon further reflection, I'm sending him on the Advanced Anti-Aircraft Ground Attack Course.

You could, of course, assign him target drone piloting duties. He seems a bit thick and naive, perhaps he'll relish the opportunity to help his squadron mates better their gunnery. *cough*

Well, as we all know friendly fire IS reality in any conflict. It has happened to me in every combat flight sim I've flown (not as many as some, but not a newbie either). I wouldn't be so concerned, because as you say, "you've never seen that before", though I know you mean the AI getting credit for 'damaging' one from their side...

So it isn't an AI issue per se (he thought he could take the shot! Oh well rolleyes ) but a bug in career mode that gave him the credit for a friendly.

Sometimes you gotta laugh, otherwise you'd be crying pitchafit

Well, it's also a result of the AI wingmen apparently being blind to your presence on the six of an enemy as they press on the kill firing right through you to get them.
I've also collided with several friendlies who were jockeying to get on the six of my target that were likewise oblivious to me being there.

Yeah, this is my life-and the primary reason why I go on solo missions! biggrin

Love it when I attack 5 enemy A/C and my flight is orbiting above me enjoying the scenery. I get in some good licks and my targets engine starts belching black smoke-guess who shows up to run me over, shoot through me and try to steal the kill. Hate to say it but I have shot at them-problem is that because we're supposedly on the same side, it doesn't seem to cause them to break or dissengage.

Wait...are we still talking about the AI or have we moved onto multi-player?

In AI - it cuts both ways. The enemy will often stand off while you demolish one of their comrades, even in a prolonged scrap.
