Hello everyone,

In keeping with the realism of the sim, just wondering if the Nevada map will be strictly a training range as it is in real life ?
After all, it would be rather unrealistic for there to be real enemy forces there.

thankyou

Alliz

I would imagine the map will be exactly what you want it to be. If you want to keep it "real" you would fly "training missions"', if you want to use it for actual combat you could set the scenario to suit.

After all it's just a map, what you do with the map is up to the end user. If you think it's unrealistic to have enemy forces on it, I suppose the same could be said of the current map. As as far as I'm aware there are no US forces currently flying combat missions there either. ( Could you more easily imagine combat missions over the black sea area, yes of course but hopefully you see what I'm getting at ).

I will use the map as a sandbox, as I'm sure many others will do, and create missions using the map to "simulate" current ops in Afganistan or past ops in Iraq, etc. ( I will just have to be careful where I place the enemy units, I can't remember seeing Ceasers Palace in Helmand. WinkNGrin )

Cheers

Just re-arrange the letters in Nevada to Afghanistan and you'll have more fun!

Red Dawn.... it can happen. biggrin Or you gotta provide CAS for the party bus as it makes its way from Nellis to the MGM Grand.

Aside from that the serious stuff I can see:
-Red Flag campaign
-Red Flag multiplayer event
-Training
-Pretend its any desert in the world
-Reno Air Races with P-51 even if Reno is off the map
-Map could be extended in almost any direction and you'll likely add a few military bases. Maybe if the F-18 is next they could NAS Fallon in northern Nevada where the Top Gun school is currently located.

Party bus? Now that's an escort mission idea right there! Already thought of air racing with the P51 as well.
