I have a gunsmith friend who made up a Hello Kitty AR-15 after I laughed about how absolutely hilarious they are in contrast to the uber-tricked out "tactical" crap being put togther out there.

He figured it would just be a novelty thing to get customers talking as it hung on the wall.

He sold it in two days at quite a premium!

Wow, OG, I like that picture more and more every time I see it.

As for the girl gun craze, don't mind it too much, I've noticed there's a lot more women shooters now than there used to be. I’ve noticed lots of guys are now bringing their daughters to the range too. I like the idea; even if those women and girls feel the need to bedazzle their weapons...they are women after all. Happy, pretty superior firepower.

You know, it does amaze me how the platform has managed to stay relevant for fifty years. Gene Stoner's design has legs, and in the early 1960s it was looking like the AR-15 wasn't going to make it what with all the trouble the original M-16 had in Vietnam. But I do have to shake my head at all the gun-show ninjas toting tacti-kewl rifles on the AR-15 platform with multiple Picatinny rails hanging stuff off them that makes them look like something an action figure from a bad sci-fi movie might be packing. This doesn't apply to OG's guns above, tho. Those are tastefully restrained. But speaking of the aforementioned wanna-be proto-SWAT/SEAL Team 6 type guns, well, back in the day, the good old M-16A1 did just fine without all that cream cheese frosting. It's just not my thing. I'm sort of a Luddite when it comes to guns. Heck, I prefer the good old No. 4 Lee-Enfield over anything else, long-gun wise.

I had a Vietnam-issue M-16A1 re-issued to me in the mid-80s when I was an MP in the Army. It was all worn out. It didn't even have any more Parkerizing on the receiver. But it was stone reliable. You can easily squeeze off three round bursts even under pressure, but the HQ nimrods decided that soldiers in full auto mode were not to be trusted and thus, the M-16A2 with the 3 round burst instead of full rock and roll. And I remember the guys in the 82nd Airborne (I was, as the British say, "having it off" with one of the guys in the 2d/325 so I got it chapter and verse) having endless issues with the A2 in field testing. My worn-out A1 never let me down unless I held the bang switch down too long or loaded more than 28 rounds in the magazine.

The basic design has a lot of merits but it clearly needed a LOT of further development which it didn't get until fairly recently. Also, it was a tough design to build properly at a decent price until the advent of CNC machining.

No, suppressors are legal in many of our states as long as you go through the process and pay the $200.00 BATF stamp. The process can be a bit of a hassle and it takes almost 5 months to get each item through the process. Which reminds me that I got a high quality suppressor and need to update that picture. Also got the scope and mount for the stainless 556 rifle.

Sometime I will have to do a photo of all my specialty weapons and items. Still waiting for so BATF actions.

That was the first fullbore rifle I shot with 41 years ago Rifle No4 Mk1* made in Long Branch Ontario, sadly I sold it last year when I moved abroad. I also shot with a P14, a WW1 Lee Enfield that was selected as a high accurarcy weapon.

I think it is very smart to buy a hello kitty AR-15 in hot pink for use as your home defence rifle. That way, if some overzealous prosecutor (ie. Not Cat) decides to go after you, they hold up what appears to be a barbie accessory in court an ask the officer 'is THIS the rifle you recovered from the scene?', as opposed to some black stone cold killing machine. Lots of gun racists out there to serve on juries, who's going to convict someone who defended their house with a Hello Kitty gun.
