If you got Il-2 for $10, you bought it years after it came out. I paid $50 for Il-2 in 2001.
That said, while I welcome a great P-51 sim, I feel that is all this is going to be until more titles are released. P-51s flying over current-day Georgia against M-1s, T-80s, Shilkas, Tunguskas, Rolands???
I can fudge the time. Sure P-51s never flew combat over that geographic location, but someone can make a "what if" 1944 scenario where Germany did better and actually reached the area to seize the oil fields. That's fine.
But a P-51 can't take on modern ground units let alone air units. So if this team is also creating a whole new slew of WWII-era ships, ground units from both sides in the Eastern Front, and naturally AI-flown planes from fighters to bombers to transports, then this will likely be the best WWII sim ever. If not, it will be the best WWII plane-stuck-in-reverse-The-Final-Countdown sim...which I'm not sure we needed.

For now you can just use the ZSU emplacements if you want some AAA opposition. Trucks and some mtlbs might do adequately in terms of vehicles for you to attack. It would be in their best interest at this point to clarify what they intend to do, if they even know.

Yay. Prop planes with a-10s and obsolete blacksharks, flying in Georgia. How about Nevada? They're just hodge podging a bunch of crap together that makes absolutely no sense. Whatever you think of the choice of airframes there's not been a single step in the DCS aircraft that anyone could legitimately call 'crap'.

If this comes with its own envrionment, AI opponents, and campaign, I'll be first in line.
If it is an airshow add-on for DCS A-10/BS, well, been there, done that with FSX.

Bought every ED sim to date, will give this one a miss 'though. Already have the IL2 series to fight in them and FSX for flying them around. As for FSX flight models not being realistic? Just invest a couple of dollars / euro's / currency X and you can get it to an incredible level. A2A has some very good WW2 planes (granted, no P-51 Accusim yet) and I really don't see the point of a P-51 in a modern war scenario. That is what the A-10C is for.
Kasper A2A is great as you obviously know but I feel the DCS go at the pony is dipping their toes look at the market. What happens if the clod sequel fails (and why people keep on thinking its the moscow theatre is interesting), the WWII market is wide open. Uhhh...because the developer announced on their forums that the next one was 'Battle for Moscow'? I just don't see the CloD series failing. While CloD has some issues, it's already a far better game than IL-2 for the aircraft and theater it models. It's just that the aircraft and theater it models are very narrow at present, but that's changing. Well I hope it doesn't fail, I really want it to but if they can't establish the title it will fail. As for Battle of Moscow - I made the comment because I haven't seen the official announcement from Ilya that it WILL be the BOM, only speculation on the forums and linking the latest images of a IL2 and the old news of Oleg and the govt funding for the BOM project. I haven't seen a link from what Ilya is referring to and the BOM. I'm not saying it isn't, just that I haven't seen the official announcement - if you have the link can you please post it. Anyway, back to DCS - interesting to see what comes of this, though I am looking forward to the next modern DCS a/c more than the P-51.

It would be in their best interest at this point to clarify what they intend to do, if they even know. In what regard? Nate With regards to what direction ED are actually going! We have 2 modern era high fidelity sims.....now it looks like we're going to have a hi-fidelity WW2/Korean War 'Legend' added into the same/existing battlefield. It just doesn't make sense, perhaps we are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.....hence the clarification on what direction this is going in. The BS2 release/patching/lack of communications made the water muddy, this doesn't help give anyone peace of mind that ED have a plan they are following. Is this just a bonus aircraft? Will future 'Legend' releases give us Mustang opposition because releasing this aircraft into the existing battlefield makes all the realism pointless! ED should/must have this all planned out and there must be a reason behind it. Lots of people seem confused, me included!
