Ease off, fellas. No harm done...yet.
I do two things to trap on carriers and they're both essentially cheating. First, like everyone else, I shut off the cockpit view.
Second, I mod all my carriers to not have any engines. They essentially sit still in the middle of the ocean. Realistic? Hardly. Does it make carrier landings possible in a game that does everything it can to make a carrier landing impossible? Yes.

LOL. Awesome that you can do that, but I haven't the time or energy to devote to learning how to do the same.

everytime..
actually in my Tomcat and Hornets, I raised the viewpoint/angle and adjusted the FOV so i can actually see better,
IRL, the pilot's head is usually higher than the dash by about 6-8 inches, and around the alignment of just below the top of the windscreen,
In the game the viewpoint is inline with the dash, every default stock pit the viewpoints are way too low, when i look around and it looks like I have 8-15 inches of gap between my head and the canopy. i should only have 4-6 inches.
Raising the Position UP, and Angling it down allows me to easily see over the Dash / Panel.

I don't shut off cockpit view and still land on carriers with realistic landings on. Me too. We should get cookies. Or a pony. I press the A button and it does it for me, I open a Dr. Pepper sit back and chill. LOL. Works like a charm, doesn't it? CHEATERS!!! BURN THHHEEEMMMMM!!!!! [meds] I found it alot easier once I stopped trying to set the plane down like it was a fragile little newborn baby. Carrier-borne aircraft have overbuilt landing gear for a reason. Don't be afraid to hit the deck alot harder than you would on a nice runway landing.[/meds]

Not sure that it is particularly realist, but I have found you can get away with steep approach and then quickly swapping ends (keeps the deck in view longer).

I'm still crashing most of the time.. Even if I keep the touchdown speed perfectly at 150 knots. Worst, I don't know what makes me explode. Rampstrike? Too much rate of descent? Tailstrike? I could never tell, there's no ACMI here to replay later. But most of the problems I recognize is a bad visibility on approach. If only I can see the carrier AND the instruments, there would be no problem, even without the needles to guide me. In the WoE modded with ODS, the A-6E sqdn always get night missions during campaign. I just don't know how they expect me to trap at night with no light or FLIR at all. Never get any night mission yet in WoV, but carrier landing still frustate me. Agree with PFunk, with that kind of visibility, no meatball, no glideslope on the ACLS needles, no LSO, no lighting whatsoever, mandatory high approach speed, etc, carrier ops feels near impossible in this game. Next time I'll just join the boys in blue, instead. Oh, and how do you change POV height in WoV? It might help. Thanks.
