Just ran 97 laps at Richmond in the Silverado, 23 to go, having a really good race, starting 12th and finding myself in 4th but someone wrecked in the back stretch and I pulled over and exited because I didn't want to risk getting slammed with an incident.

It's rough going from a 3.50 to a 2.22 in two days.

Anyone else ever do that?

I'm telling you... stop worrying so much about your SR, and enjoy the game one license at a time.

I'm talking out of experience, the first year in iRacing all I did was worry about my SR, and in doing so was over cautious and just didn't enjoy the races, and still as of this date never had a win. I'll I cared about was not having any incidences. If someone came within sight of me I would move to the side and slow down... boring.

Now, I race... and since doing that I've lost some SR, but have come in the top 5 or so, usually... now I know my time will come.

Now I'm not saying ignore your SR, it's there for a purpose... but don't let it get in the way of having fun, and learning. If you take a SR hit or two, go do either a Qual run or a time trial... that should keep you balanced... do at least 1 TT each week, it counts the most... repeat TT do not.

Wow never man! You were 4th I would have stayed! Man worse you would have lose was maybe .10. I would have stayed. If you want to gain back some I would do a TT or 2. Make sure you just go out and run the full 30 mins. YOu dont even need to be fast just be clean and BAM in no time your SR is up!

Dude......unless Allstate is paying for your iracing account..... then race and have fun.

The only time I have ever pulled off like that is if my car wasn't driveable and I was a danger to everyone else. Dont' get me wrong it is great that you are conscientious about your SR but if you are in 4th postion after 97 laps it likely means that you kept your nose clean and were driving clean so I wouldn't worry about it

I'm not exactly sure why you did what you did, you probably hurt your SR more by quitting than just finishing the next 23 laps.

I got 22 points after quitting.

So I get into a race today, running 4th and some asswipe busts me in the ass and totally ruins my truck.

anyway, when I went to pit the timer kept resetting, it would get down to 1 minute and change, then reset to 2 or more minutes and it did that over and over and over and over...

I don't get that.

I view SR as a repair account. You have so much money in this account for repairs and as your car/truck gets damaged you pull money out of this account for repairs. Yes you want to do what you can to avoid wrecks, but sometimes just like in real life you are caught right in the middle.

The best advise I can give you is:

1. Always qualify. You never know where you will be. The goal is to be toward the front and it doesnt have to be in the pole position. Positions 1-6.
2. If you are in the middle of the pack dont stress - just take it easy for the first few laps or so and dont race hard during that time. Wait until lap 5-10 to start worring about gaining positions. Usually by that time things have calmed down.

Again, it gets a lot less stressful the more towards the front you are at the beginning of the race - let all the yahoos fight it out behind you.

I like Mag have been doing this for 1 year and I have never won a race, but I constantly push to qualify to be towards the front. When this happens my SR tends to make gains.
