I'm telling you... stop worrying so much about your SR, and enjoy the game one license at a time.
I'm talking out of experience, the first year in iRacing all I did was worry about my SR, and in doing so was over cautious and just didn't enjoy the races, and still as of this date never had a win. I'll I cared about was not having any incidences. If someone came within sight of me I would move to the side and slow down... boring.
Now, I race... and since doing that I've lost some SR, but have come in the top 5 or so, usually... now I know my time will come.
Now I'm not saying ignore your SR, it's there for a purpose... but don't let it get in the way of having fun, and learning. If you take a SR hit or two, go do either a Qual run or a time trial... that should keep you balanced... do at least 1 TT each week, it counts the most... repeat TT do not.
