As great as the P51 will be for the DCS universe, I can't help but feel that the F4 Phantom would have been a better choice for use in the DCS universe, as I think that the "engine" would be well suited to a jet aircraft as opposed to a piston engine aircraft.

Thoughts?

Er, if I remember correctly, Flying Legends is for WWII era aircraft or thereabouts. I'm sure the F4 Phantom does not fall into that category.

Well, it's a flying legend. I don't know that I heard it was literally to be WWII-era.

I don't think the Flying Legends title implies that only WWII will be modeled. It simply implies that the series will focus on..... well Flying Legends. as has been hinted a good start is The Fighter Collections hangar of aircraft, in any case I expect DCS to take the opportunity to model aircraft like the Phantom or Sabre or Fresco, etc......

Hell maybe a Tomcat or Crusader!!!!

I don't have any inside knowledge to where they plan to take this new series but I think its safe to say they'd go that route eventually (even if it takes ten years). Given the series is successful.

Incorrect - Flying Legends is not specific to any time period.

The P-51D will be the first aircraft in the Flying Legends series that focuses on historical aircraft that have set benchmarks in combat aviation. This series of simulations demonstrates the broad scope of DCS simulation environment and its ability to introduce aircraft from all eras into a common simulation environment

Perhaps we'll see a Camel to compete with RoF? smile

Personally I'd like to see a bomber. Maybe a B-58? biggrin
