I like Emma Stone and hope she does well in this. She recently played brilliantly in a Saturday Night Live skit as a character named Wallace. Hope this link works:

It looks like it could be good. I really like the fact that they didnt make him biologically able to shoot webs... that was bs from the other spiderman movies that I really didnt like.

Why isn't the lady a red-head? Wasn't she a red-head in the comics? I don't like it when they stray from "canon," though the way it's been done and re-done it can be confusing what "canon" is anymore.

In any case, I like the new lady compared to the previous choice, and like the new spidey as well. Can't wait!

I wonder how many more years it will be before audiences get tired of comic book movies?

Mary Jame Watson was the redhead (who he eventually married) but there was also Gwen Stacy. While Watson is probably the most well known I would say that Gwen Stacy probably had the largest impact on spiderman and the comic as a whole.

Compare that trailer with this one, which I find far more exciting.

There was also Felicia Hardy, actually In canon Peter Parker never went to school with Mary Jane Watson, he did not met her until later, and she was not his first and only love. The First series has taken a lot out of canon, though I quite liked it. This new rebot seem to go away from cannon too, but I'm excited to see what comes of it.

Been over reboots for ages I mean..cmon, the new spiderman movie series seems like it was just done. Is it because they are too scared to make totally original movies as much as hedging their bet on a reboot ? I dont watch any of the comic based movies anymore anyway so it doesnt really matter to me, just seems a bit lame is all.

Or it could be that spiderman is marvel's most popular superhero (and only second to batman DC) and that there are thousands of movies worth of good spiderman content that would easily sell big with both kids and grown up alike.

Change is ok..when its not every couple of years

the Toby version was huge at the box office..and part two was even bigger in 2004 , part three was also huge in money made, outgrossing 1 and 2. With 3 only being made in 2007..a five year break and they are doing another reboot..yawn.

hulk got an even earlier reboot, and people liked the reboot,even though it didnt sell well enough cos the mainstream was still jaded by the mutant poodles (seriously WTF).

i really hated raimi versino of spider-man, but neverthless was happy to AT LEAST have an spider-man, i didnt like they trowing mj as girl next door, she was never like that,and she was never peter first, i didnt like peter being a meek wuss post powers, in the comics peter man up,in the movie peter looks like one of those guys who sterotypically live in the basement of their parents houose playing wow.
i didnt like bio webshooters, i hated the futuristic green goblin, hated the maks off sequences, hated the villains being simpathetic, they are VILLAINS you know, they do EVIL, you are not suposed to care for them, hated the peaches syndrome every #%&*$# movie.

so as loose canonicaly as this is,it is more faithfull already then the previouos version,especially since they are drawing from all universes, mainstream 616 marvel, ultimate and even one off elseworld (the costume peter uses comes from a rebooted origin called with great powers),but since everyone hated it,it became an elseworld origin,and it is his wrestling suit given to him,not made,so gives me hope he has his own made for him in 2 to look more like the one we know.

That is written by bendis, his portrayal of spider-man with the avengers is atrocious, spider-man comes as a annoying childish teenager...
i hate bendis,he did well on ultimate spider-man but he lacks the capability to tackle mainstream spider-man, dan slott on the other hands nails spider-man and peter right.

Plus peter was joking,he doesnt even own a pc and barely know how to send a e-mail, he always used betty brant for that,funny thing is he has all this problem with mundane internet and office usage,but is pretty savy wheneever a situation need fidling with a computer technology to beat a supervillain,lol,comics.....

My understanding is that orginally, Sam Raimi and the same cast were slated to do a fourth Spiderman movie but there were some major creative differences between Raimi and the studio so the studio decided to get rid of everyone and start over from scratch.

And to be fair, Spiderman 3 did get quite a lot of lackluster reviews.

Comments from Maguire and Raimi certainly made it seem like the 4th film broke down in the 11th hour and they went back to stage one.

My guess is Raimi wanted more control than he had over 3, with a "look how that turned out after all your interference", and they didn't like being proven wrong.



The Jedi Master

Very few directors like Spielberg and Cameron could get away with something like that!

New Batman film is the superhero film of the year. The Village People Avengers looks crap, Spiderman looks not bad but Bats is best.

I'm very confident that "The Avengers" will be good. It's directed by Joss Whedon after all. However, I do agree that the final Batman film will be the #1 superhero film this year by far.

Avengers will mop the floor with batman and superman, dc will never bring another live action movie.Seriously they wont, if supermen flops they will focus attention to cgi movies instead, all hopes lies in superman (LOL), this is the last batman, any new one will be another universe other then nolan.

raimi must be gritting his teeth that someone else is directing the lizard since he wanted to play with him since spider-man 2.i only miss the lizard using trenchcoat, after all it seems they are mirroring the first arc where the lizard wants to turn the world into reptilians, and i really hope they dont use that arc where people turned into lizard just by having their "reptile brain part" to activate, i always hated that story as it made no sense, having people behave instinctivaly by activating the reptile brain, that fine by me, turning into lizard people would make the whole marvel universe be sleeping mutants.

Those Batman movies always put me to sleep. Too friggin pompous. Ledger was great though.

There was the Spiderman Movies with Toby McGuire. These were released within the last 10 years right?
Now there is "The Amazing Spiderman" with the same hero, just seems he got his powers differently. Same essential pretense in which a guy with spiderlike abilities fighting crime. I don't see the difference or the need to make another one.

Kind of like the difference between the Hulk, then the next year releasing the Incredible Hulk. Same movie, different actors.

To each their own I guess because I found the Joel Shumacher movies to be incredibly cheesy and the Tim Burton movies barely passable.

The two Hulk films were not just one year apart. You can't make a film in that time anymore, not like those.

The "need" is the studio believing that it can still make a lot of money with the Spiderman franchise. That's all that ultimately matters in Hollywood.

Short story, diference in creativity between director and studio made studio dump director and crew and restart a new,problably since they obligatin with them lied on spider-man movie,this new one is AMAZING spider-man,so no liability.
the original movie was looooosely based on the mainstream spider-man story, this one this more focused on the ultimate universe spider-man while loosely geting elements from other medias as well.

and for the need, money, always money. Also on hulk, the first one was from universal studio, the newest was from marvel comics own studio,so they rebooted him to fit into their new plan for integrated cinematic universe.
