And quite impressive as a Twotter only has about twenty seats.

Never heard persons on board - but then again, I don't have to look far to count my passengers.

Booking 150% over capacity doesn't surprise me. I think it was somewhere in Africa a few years back I read about an aircraft that had seats secured to the floor with rope. smile

Great thread!

I'm very curious what happened to the aircraft. It seems it was dragged out, but would it have gone through a refurbish to make it airworhty again or a re-cert?

Bilzilla, those videos are wild! I feel like I'm intruding in a pilots only thread but I can't resist wink

ONLY 150% over capacity?

How about 1100 passengers in a 408 capacity 747 ?

FWIW when I was flying 747 freighters I worked out that we could easily carry 1200 people in one, if they didn't feel the need to have a seat and just be tied down on the freight deck. smile
The most I ever carried in a 747 was about 570 I think.

Another FWIW - the record for the most POB in an Embraer Bandirante (20 seats) is 40 POB. It apparently took a long time to get off the big runway at Port Moresby.

They didn't. They were way too late in flaring, and probably should have done a missed approach in the first place. That plane never flew out of LCY.

I was talking about touching down with so much crab. Of course they goobered the round out and flare, that was so apparent it goes without saying. I was talking about how we have seen a lot of this commercial aircraft landing with side loading of the gear in these videos.

Ah, I missed that, sorry smile
I believe commercial aircraft are designed to touch down with a big crab angle, rather than small GA aircraft that have to be landed straight. There are lots of vids of big Boeings being tested in crosswinds on Youtube. Pretty interesting, and at the same time harrowing, to watch.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

747's will take up to about 22 kts of crosswind on touchdown without having to de-crab. Makes for a rough landing though!
