I suspect that community made texture packs will surpass that by a long shot- say 2048 instead of 1024

I just got it downloaded and I think I do notice a difference, however, I don't think my setup could handle to much more high res textures and still be enjoyable.

I really like the new workshop feature on Steam, makes adding mods so easy.

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1343691-info-detailed-analysis-of-highres-pack-click-to-learn/

Good analysis of what's changed to what in the high-res pack. I guess in a nutshell, many textures have doubled to 1024x1024, some (like weapons) have even quadrupled to 2048. About 27% of textures have changed, somewhat scattered across all of the different object types. In my personal experience, I noticed a big change with flora and characters, but wood/stone structures still look abysmally low-res. But hey, for some improvement with no noticeable performance hit whatsoever, I'm not complaining too much.

Really cool. Hoping that many of these make their way into the game via DLC or via community mods

OH, i would really wanted the water stealth bow for the meadery quest, too bad. What i want is make all npcs marriable, the dialogue is the same, and most characters has the same voice anyway, the prettiest gals or the most sympatetics ones you can't marry, like the shor bones girl and the other in the woods. Also why can't you marry a women after you kill her husband ? that's common pratice in medievel times.

Also i would like the hability to interact with guards, why can't i share mead with them when i have so many ? could be used as a bribe, if you do something small as petty thievery he turns a blind eye.

For the ambitious among you:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11

Does require a restart. It's not a mod per se, but a guide to mods, bugfixes, and tweaks that are KNOWN to work, including installation order and BOSS ordering, and only covers mods that don't alter the essence of the game.

To get an idea of feedback from folks who are following STEP, you can read the forum section at that link.

I decided to give STEP a try. The install and tweak process took a few hours. I've only played a few minutes, just getting into Helgen Keep, but am impressed so far (MUCH better looking armour, dragon, which is 4096x4096 I think, rocks, and fire effects). Runs well and looks significantly better. Too soon to tell for sure, but I like what I see.

(Edit)- A few hours later, and I can vouch for the STEP method. The game looks fantastic, and plays very well. Haven't messed around with increasing ugrid size though, because the visuals are significantly improved. Dungeons are dark now, so you'll need a torch or some such, and there are added ambient sounds that make exploring them a much creepier experience.
