Going to do it anyway... ya I know it could be a SR and iRating killer... but I've been racing too Conservative this past year... Thats why I have such a low iRating, yet a high license and SR... I'm use to playing it safe and getting out of the way, or more so panicking when I see someone in my rearview... But going to go balls to the wall today in my first official multi-class race today... twice even... got to see what happens, got to become a racer and not just a Sunday driver... I've practiced, I've become consistent, even just time trial-ed without incident, and a pretty good time, just 2 seconds off the top drivers. So at 2 PM and again at 4 PM today, (football is over...well except tonights Superbowl, lol.) Taking my Mustang to the Glen, and hoping I get lucky with a good group of DP drivers. Since thats really all it is now, luck. I'm a class A with a 2.59 SR, and a terrible 988 iRating... lets see how fast I can fall or climb in those numbers this season. Balls to the Wall time. Look for my AAR after todays events.

LMFAO Well good luck this afternoon at the Glen. I raced my races yesterday. First race was a complete disaster. Guy in front of me laid back i guess coming to the green then gassed it. As he ran up on the guy in front, he slammed on the brakes. I did the same and tried to make a correction, sent me across the track. Again, this is coming to the green! Anyway, ran again two hours later and had a blast. Not the way i wanted to get the season started, but its a long way to go. I remember watching the Daytona 24 and someone in a GT car said that with the DP buzzing around he had to watch behind him more than he did in front. Mustang guys have all my respect. I drive a DP and I'm just looking not to ruin a Mustang drivers race. Anyway, good luck!! Blue Falcon Racing http://bluefalconracing.freeforums.org

I ran my first multi class yesterday (other than SHQ races)... I took my gt2 ti then glen with 32 other drivers mainly in HPD's and Corvettes.. I gotta say i was pretty terrified.. However i started 32nd (no quali) but managed to move up to 17th overall (2nd in class) so all in all a good result i'd say.
I pretty much spent the whole race dodging HPD's charging me into corners.. Still, i enjoyed it.. eventually!

Race 1 Strike 1... rear-ended on lap 13 in the bus stop by a DP... then he blames me for not picking a line... excuse me, theres really only 1 line there for the stang. lol Got to see Conny race in the DP, he finished third... nice... not sure how we ended up in the same split, your far better then I, lol. Well next one at 4.

Yep, i watched the race. DP never gave you a chance to pick a line exiting the bus stop. It was fun to watch though. Nice pass early in the race in sector 1. Conny, ur a beast. You and your SSR teammate laid down an impressive pace. Leader caught traffic in good spots and he never stepped off the track. Good race overall guys.

Well next one at 4. Yeah I hate that, the divebombing DP driver who thinks a chicane has lines for two, if that guy had ever driven the Mustang through there before graduating to the DP he would know that (sometimes I miss the old slow license system on iRacing)... personally I tend to block going into that situation now where we are close to the turning point and the DP is still behind... I will turn in early to prevent the divebomb, DPs will yell at me at times but it stops the unrealistically hopeful DP divebombers. Good luck on your race at 4p, first couple of weeks are rough in multiclass until the unqualified DPs learn how to give and take and/or drop out.

I didn't like that my lap times were 2 secs slower then practice and TT... but always having to yield... when I saw the blue flag, each time it was like... "oh here we go", lol

Thanks Brandon, it was fun, at least for me and Kid. I got off a good start , going from 6 to 4:th. Then the second guy met a Stang in the Bus..and he lost. My gain though. Then I had some problems and Kid also, getting the passes allways at the wrong point. But being carefull allways pays out. Ended up third, so I'm quite happy. Good racing with you again Magnum, you did well. Also taking a third We got into the same split as there are so few Stangs running, so the iRating lets you enter the higher splits. In the lower splits, there are no at all. Just DPs. But then again, if it's this hard with respect for the slower class in the high split, be happy you don't get in with the lower split DP guys.

Questions...
Conny, why don't you get any SR increase/decrease... Ir's ---, just wondering.
When I got rear ended, I towed to the pits, optional repair was 2 mins... so I waited, all done, I go to drive out and my wheel is at a 90 degree angle, my car is going sideways, lol... what does a pit stop fix and don't fix... and how do you tell, wouldn't of pitted, just exited if I knew damage was terminal.
and Conny... when coming out of the bus stop I always stay inside around the carousel, most cars pass on the outside, but you passed on the inside... whats the preferred side for the stang?

There was a split higher, I was about 100 iR away from getting into that one. Ronnie joined, but had to do with a 9th spot. The average lap was about 0.5 sec quicker so I would probably not have gotten a 3:rd. Then again, 4 Mustangs on the same lap and with the 5:th just one down. Seems to have been a bit better racing

The scale acutally goes beyond 4.99, you just don't see it. So I might have 6.00 or something. Not until it goes below 4.99 will I get any visible decrease in SR. It does decrease my SR, but just the one above 4.99. The pistops are a mystery for me too, Sometimes I get all fixed, and sometime it seems like the cannot do anything. I have had light bruches agains a fence and it has wisted the steering 90 degress and the have fixed it down to 30 degrees. Then I have had full frontals, and they fixed it like I just scraped the paint. I was not 100% sure as you were leaning out a bit there, and saw a gap that gave me a better line and the guy behind a possibly worse one, but I should have let you know before. It's not easy to focus and speak at the same time. You should know that some DPs are using you Mustang guys a bit like obstacles for the ones behind also. If I can squeeze in at a good spot, you might need to take another line and be forced to block the next DP to slow down. I try not to drive that way, but If I see a good line and I know the mustang can take another then I might go for it, if I'm beeing chased hard. It often depends on a split sec decition and if you are closing the distance quickly or not.

Yes, take care Joao. I had a bad accident just before the daytona race. Slipped on ice on the front porch and hit my back bad on the stairs. My feet were 2.5 meters above ground as highest. A real "karate kid" kick. It looked like someone had hit me in the lower back with a baseball bat. Still not 100% well.

Good racing Mags, I was waching from the blimp. a second place this time. Congrats. You were doing just great in that traffic. I was just a bit too slow to join. There were two other SSR team mates there though

Who needs TV when there is iRacing ghost sessions to watch 102 registered drivers for that last race. That usually only happens on ovals. Seems the GA series is the new favourit. Let's see if it keeps it up with Sebring next week.

Wow congrats Mag, great race.
Thanks for the good thoughts Lowell and Conny, yeah back problems are a pain, but I am definitely on the mend and looking forward to joining you guys hopefully starting next week, good reminder that I'm getting old and need to be in better shape, hope your back is getting better too Conny.
In the meantime good to have SimHQ discussion to keep the motivation, really glad to hear how popular the sessions were, hope you got some good screenies of it Magnum.

Had a fun week in the Grand Am series as well. Probably most interesting moment was going two wide through the bus stop with another comparable DP (his choice not mine.....dived for it at the last moment). We both made it through with only a 0x so I guess that was a success.
It was great to see the participation (every race I was in was split some of them 4 ways!).
Not sure if we will get the same following this week at Sebring being a much more challenging track. Tried it this morning and it sure feels a lot different :-) ....mainly slippery!

Just tested Sebring this AM... only got 5 laps in, used my Road America setup, and liked it as is. With the Stang I was just over 2:30... alot of good pass areas for the DP's, but also a few very bad ones... got a project in mind will post later, maybe to help with this problem. Looking forward to Sebring... but for 2 days, I disconnect my wheel and play some land and armor games, then reconnect Wed.

You are a good pilot so I know you can race smart! good luck!
