Hey guys,

I'm just coming back to Il-2 (with the new 4.11 patch) after a long time away.

I never got the hang of CEM in the past, but figured I'd give it another go when I started a new campaign flying the Bf-109 F-2 for Germany. I'm confused, however, because I don't seem to be able to adjust mixture or prop pitch. I've checked all of my key bindings and ensured that CEM is selected in the options, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Does the F-2 not have prop or mixture control? From my limited knowledge of WWII aircraft, I seem to see what look like prop and mixture controls in the cockpit, but I could be totally wrong.

Any light you can shed to help me out of my confused state would be greatly appreciated. smile

Cheers

Pizzi

Have you tried PROP. PITCH AUTO in the controls menu? I think by default it's "SHIFT 0" (ZERO). I bound another key to it so I'm not positive.

Prop Pitch Auto changes PP from auto to manual. If you are in mid flight and select manual be careful with it on the 109s. It may over rev if you are on medium to high throttle and over rev the engine.

Bf 109, all versions, has automatic prop pitch and mixture control.

You should download the excellent Corsican Corsair's Guide that you may find here:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3265

it includes all available commands and choices for all flyable aicrafts.

Cheers,
GB

Not all version of 109s had auto prop pitch. In the early stages the battle of Britain Germany still flew some versions with manual control and all extremely early ones flown in the Spanish civil war were manual or fixed pitch. If you went into a dive with a manual pitch you have to make the pitch coarse or you would over-rev the engine. If you went into a sudden climb you have to go for fine pitch quickly or you'd load the engine down too much from very low revs. This can be just as bad as over-revving.
