So I was playing BF3 for about 3 hours today... no friends were on so I was alone, since alone I removed my headset and mic... so I was playing, and cussing out people... to the TV... I do that alot as some of you know who play games with me... get pissed at someone screwing up and cuss them out, I screw up and call BS, lol... etc etc...

Now I always thought when the mic was muted or off.... it was just to me, and entertainment for my family members... who have to tell me to be quite, or sometimes "shut up", lol...

But at the end of my last match I noticed the mic icon next to my name, and sure enough when I talked it showed that it was activated... then if your quite for a while it disappears, comes back when you talk...

So for 3 hours I was cussing out these idiot players, or calling out BS on shotgun kills from 300 yards away, lolo...etc etc...

OPPS... wasn't aware the Kinetc had in game comms... does it or not?

ya, I wanna know how you got that long sniper shot off on my head with all my smoke I layed out? lol

My team was pissing me off, no teamwork, no organization... I was trying to play engineer class to unlock my service star, 95% there, and get my 50 RPG kills, which I did and unlocked the assignment reward... but it wasn't working, we were pinned in the tunnels... so I switched to Assault, with my smoke... was able to make headway with it, but some of my teammates appeared confused on what smoke was for... rush through, attack in force... we did better with my smoke help... but still a failure most missions.

Should get promoted tomorrow and get my engineer service star... c u then.

yeah, it has a mic in it for voice commands. (which can pickup your voice from about 30 feet away.)

Ya, I bought it for Mass Effect 3 and GR... both to have voice commands, but I didn't realize it worked with ALL games as in games comms.

I noticed that with my Kinect also. I was giving some guy on my squad the riot act about being a camping sniper that doesn't help me take objectives because I spawn a mile and a half away from everyone. He not so nicely told me to shut up.

I either unplug my Kinect if I am not using it, or make a party so I don't have to worry about muting my mic and still listening to the other idiots trash talk each other.

so how do you... can you disable the kinetc or the comms part... I want to use it for the above mentioned games... not comms.

Dashboard -> System Settings -> Kinect Settings

Turn off chat microphone.
