I just purchased an extra copy of the FSX-Accelerator Combo Pack. I don't need to open it; my current install is fine. My concern is that MS wants to replace FSX with Flight, an arcade game, and make more money by forcing people to pay separately for different geographic areas, planes, etc. That makes sense from MS' standpoint but it's not the best thing from a consumer standpoint. Not to mention the unnecessary Flight game. FSX can already be flown arcade style by selecting the right options. I don't fly it as a full sim. It's already accessible to a broad market, so that excuse is a crock of cr*p. It's about MONEY. Plain and simple.

One day soon, FSX will no longer be available. I figure we'd better get extra copies while we can.

Why get multiple copies?

The image files of the disk will always be available somewhere around the web and as long as you don't lose your activation key code, you'll be fine until MS shuts down the activation servers.

Or just make images of your own disks, there not copy protected.
As long as you don't loose your serial numbers your good to go.

Had to do it with mine. Disk one started to de-laminate so I did it while it was still readable.

A lot of people are still stuck on this huh? The rest of you post maybe true, yet i'm still thinking it's going to be a mix sim/game.
Only way to find out is to wait for final release hmmm?

Even if it isn't a pure arcade game, MS still wants to charge for addional places to fly around in, and that is unacceptable. Even at a reduced rate, I call that highway robbery. I want the whole earth in one package. I want the next version of the Flight Simulator series.

Panic now and throw Microsoft another $50 for a redundant copy of FSX.

50 bucks? Is that what you paid? Not me. I paid a fraction of that amount. Besides, I may never open this new copy. I'll keep it for a few years, long after Flight flops and people are begging for FSX, but there are none to be found cause greedy MS stopped making 'em years ago. Then I'll sell it on Ebay for $400.

You're right, Amazon does have Gold Pack for around $25 and Deluxe version by itself can be found for even less. The prices are much lower than they were a couple of years ago.

Back in 2007 I paid Microsoft's full asking price of $70 for the Deluxe version; that was without the Acceleration pack. Of course the retail price dropped to $50 just a few months later, grrrr... A year later I paid another $30 for Acceleration. I'm glad you got a much better deal on your copy. I think I'll just take my chances and live with my one set of DVDs for now and wait and see if civilization still exists in 2013.

You should try Prepar 3D instead. This is the closest you will get to a flightsim in MSFS' spirit.
Heck you can apparently even port over most of your add-ons!
