I was surprised that she wasn't given a HANS device.
Years ago I was gifted a few laps of Fontana speedway in a Petty Racing Experience car (as passenger). The car did about 150, so a fair bit slower than a Cup car, with less g in the corners as a result. Regardless, I was most impressed with the lateral g load of those Petty cars in the corners. After a couple laps, I found the HANS device very handy at relieving some of the neck strain of holding my helmeted noggin upright in the corners. I found the straps that connect the helmet to the shoulder device could take some of the load off my neck muscles when in the corners.
I now have a bigger appreciation of what loads a NASCAR driver has to endure for 3-4 hours, rather than the handful of laps I had to endure. I suspect the woman in that video has an even bigger appreciation of the forces an F1 driver has to endure in a race, although a HANS device and staps properly tightened might have made the ride more educational and less, er, painful.
