Ace Combat 5 HOTAS driver for Windows 7...Can (or will) it be possible?

Call me cheap if you want, but I really like my old HOTAS that came in the PS2 Ace Combat 5 bundle. It's basically a Saitek X-45 with some of the functions not working. I was able to find a driver for it that would allow me to use it with my sims on the PC (running windows XP) and have been doing so for several years now. I've found the drivers here and another site here I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 on it and was saddened to find that my old drivers would not work. I then installed a virtual PC running XP on my new machine and tried to install the drivers that way. XP recognized the driver files with the HOTAS but when I tried to install I got a Code 39 message saying the driver is missing or corrupt. I am 99.9% sure the driver is not corrupt or missing because it's been working on my old PC for years and it's the exact same driver. Any ideas? Is there any way the old drivers could be modified to work on W7? Is there anybody out there actually willing to throw any amount of time into it? I don't know if there's anybody else out there in the same situation so I understand that there isn't really a market for someone to mess with it, but it would sure make this guy happier than a kid in a candy store! Thanks, Van

if drivers are made for XP, then they *usually* work on Win7 32-Bit.. theres a newer hori out (Ex2). for the Xbox 360: http://stores.horiusa.com/-strse-141/Xbox-360-Flight-Stick/Detail.bokThis one when connected would use a Xbox 360 USB Driver, (though it would still Say Hori Ex2 in Device manager).

I'm running W7 64 bit. Sorry I forgot to mention that part. If I'm going to get a new HOTAS I might as well get one made specifically for the PC. No point in going through the "back door" methods if I'm going to be dropping $150+ anyway. If anyone knows a way to make the old drivers work, please let me know! Thanks again.

I realize that SkateZilla. What I'm trying to find out is if it's possible to update the old drivers to 64-bit or if it would have to be a scratch build, or can the virtual XP I installed be forced to 32-bit or something like that to make the drivers work?

try googling it, but I doubt it..
usually now I tend to Get Xbox 360 controllers, as they use MS's Driver for "Xbox 360 Device" then the Windows Driver API downloads the Actual Name from the Device.
As my Madcatz Controller showed up as a "Xbox 360 Wired Controller" first, then switched to "MadCatz Xbox 360 FPS Controller" afer it synced.

VanUSN, If you like that style of HOTAS, I'd recommend you just find a used Saitek X45. It will have more functioning buttons and controls, and shouldn't have problems working in Windows 7.

That's what it's looking like I'm going to have to do Dr. I've been testing the waters of the used HOTAS department to get a feel for how much it will set me back. Nobody seems to know enough, or care enough, about this to do anything. I'm not surprised, as I stated before, there aren't very many people that are in my specific situation. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and maybe I could find that needle in the haystack. If there is someone out there who can help, please contact me while I search for a replacement.
'Zilla, I spent a good portion of the last week googling and trying to solve this issue on my own. Here is my humble request:
If you want to help that's great, try helping me answer my questions; if not, stop posting worthless comments telling me that they didn't make 64-bit drivers (already knew that) and to 'google it' (already done that). If you don't know, don't post; or at least post in a way that doesn't insult my intelligence. Thanks.
