In the 109 it's a hand crank. Holding the button keeps your pilot's hand cranking the wheel. Holding the button puts the flaps in "moving downward" state or "moving upward" state. When you let go of the button it stops moving and so the game says "Neutral".
Same as the prop pitch mechanism.
I have flaps on my X52's thumb slider. In the middle somewhere is "neutral". If I want to lower the flaps I just slide it all the way down and then it frees my thumb for other things. The crank keeps turning, lowering the flaps until I center the slider.

I use the Saitek pedals, work well. Also, a guy from Norway suggested Track IR5 and that has really helped reduce commands, effort, and floggin Johng my poor memory!

I have the brakes on the trigger (mode 1) and on the pedals, the spit and hurri like to ground loop so they aren't much use except to hold position.

In il2 i used to have them mapped to the bottom trigger/pinkie button on the Joystick but CloD will not recognise this button for the brakes.I ended up putting the flaps on the throttle u slider and the brakes on one of the rotaries, not real happy with that setup yet as it took away my rudder trim, more stuffing around tonight. The 109 doesn't have rudder trim. You've always got modes 2 and 3. Make mode 3 the takeoff/landing mode and change those axes around.

will CoD in game commands recognize Saitek x52 Pro shift change to modes 2 and 3? I have been using keyboard for many start up commands, the IR5 frees up the POV hat but I have not yet tried mapping commands to it.

Yeh i need to set up my modes, atm i am just using 1 mode for all assignments, i need to sort my shiz out and get real I am only really getting into the full flying side of it lately, have been in the FMB 80% of the time since release.

I have the brakes on the trigger (mode 1) and on the pedals, the spit and hurri like to ground loop so they aren't much use except to hold position. I try never to program anything other than weapons to the Trigger. Squad m8's in front of me might not appreciate me tapping the trigger (breaks) while lining up for takeoff. Luckily my Saitek Pedals have toe breaks, but some Brit aircraft have the breaks on the Spade. I have the Brit breaks programmed to a button on my HOTAS, but should simplify things by programming my Saitek pedals not only in the ingame Break Axis, but in its own software for the spade breaks. Unfortunately programming a key to the Saitek Pedals can be an excersise in frustration. I find some aspects of the Saitek Rudder programming less than intuitive.
