Ok so I looked everywhere on here and I know this question has been asked a lot but I haven't found a solution for my particular problem. I'm trying to install jf18 on windows 7 and I can get it to run but as soon as the game opens all the graphics are super distorted. Like drastic vertical lines that make it impossible to see. Can anyone help me out?

Well let's start with some specs on your installation.

I'd say start with the original without any TSH patches.

Also have you checked your video drivers?

I installed the original. My machine was built in 2011 so I didn't think that video drivers would be an issue?

This is a known issue with Vista and Windows 7. It's the opening movie and intro screen. Just click your mouse or hit Enter on each screen. You'll eventually get the initial screen you're able to start missions from. Once you install TSH mods, you can elect to skip the intro, credits and movie.

I was thinking while in flight, but yes the video issue is a problem.

Even the starting menu ill screwed up.

Yep its confirmed I just tried pressing through the menu's with enter and it gets to the main menu but once i start moving the cursor around it gets all distorted again. Please help.

I don't know too much about tweaking JF18, but I found that I needed to roll my ATI drivers back from the newest issuance in order to fix my graphical problems. That might be an option for you to explore.

I'm glad someone asked this, because I was considering diving back into this old girl, just fly the plain vanilla one, not the TSH addon.

I have:

AMD A6-3600 quad-core
6GB DDR3 memory
nVidia GTX 460 video card with the latest drivers

Will this run it okay, or do I need to be aware of some things?

I'm running Vanilla 1.01 on an Intel i7 with a GTX580 using Win7 x64 with only the movie intro issue. But disabled now.

It must be a video driver error. It's a hit or miss these days.

How do I roll back my drivers? I have an Nvidia gtx 480.

Just down load an earlier version from nVidia and uninstall your current graphic drivers using control panel / uninstall programs. Then let the nVidia installation download install the earlier drivers. Don't let Windows install drivers for "New hardware found".

Over the weekend,I just loaded the old girl up on my new machine,I7 930/12gb/gtx580 running win7 64 doing the clean install in win98 compat,then adding the 1 click install to tsh3.06. Then I set the TSH controls for the joystick,elarged hud lettering,resolution to desktop,switched the world swapper back and forth and it all worked the first time out,jane's title screen,intro movie and all. I use the 275.33 vid driver,(as rolled back for Falcon)and so far just had the time to run a couple of the trainer missions. Now off to find a good stick program for it and then check out some missions...
