4.11 plus hotfix. Jaggie hell and no nvidia panel settings seem to make a difference.i5 @3.33ghz ,gtx460 1gb, 4gb ram ,latest nv drivers.Win7 32.

Try removing at all anisotropic filtering, both from in-game setting and NVidia Control Panel.

I did have those strange artifacts when using together.

Then try to set AA just to 16x: that "Enhance application setting" looks to me conflicting and any "Q" or CSAA added to antialiasing gave me only waste of resources.

P.S.: ...and, yes, you may set Effects=2 to have best smoke.

The effects improved my smoke, same disappearing draw distance though which has always been close with smoke in il2, i thought there was a conf setting for the draw distance that had been added over the years? No luck on the jaggies old bean, with AF off it still does not seem to matter what AA setting i use, 8,16,32.

What I get (although jagged as the arrow points out) is quite satisfactory for me:


The "conf setting for the draw distance" is LandGeom=3, I think, which doubles it (only in clear and good weather).

Thanks for posting your settings Greybeard smile will have a look at mine v yours when i get home, have always had jaggies with il2 regards antennas and thin wires like you have pointed out but never on the plane models.Im sure i am missing something re a setting as it did not look this bad 3 years ago when i last played it.Even 8 odd years i didnt have jaggies like i have now.

Ajay, are you using TrackIR? I think the latest drivers lead to jaggies in Il-2. There is a fix available at Naturalpoint if that's your problem.

There is no way a low end computer should be using Effects=2. In fact, it is not advised that any computers use it, no matter how fast. It's always been an experimental setting.

I do have trackir but was not using it , did not even have it turned on smile just using snap views at this stage until i get the graphics sorted.

Effects two i am not too worried about Aviar smile just wanted to know if there was an option.More concerned about the draw distance as it virtually useless having smoke and fire added in the fmb when you cannot see it until you are extremely close anyway smile With il2 as it is now i can run 100 plus plane missions with no frame loss and the pic above with the smoke (Stalingrad mission i made years ago) has about 15 flame objects and 30 or so smoke objects and runs smooth, as opposed to how it did when it made it in 2005-6 ish.

Will check my conf.ini when i get home, have had no jaggies, and running similar settings

i think i found your problem, believe u should have TexMipFilter=3, not 2

also,

try TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=0, not1

here u go; also IceFire's override,see above; i like effects 0; with 1 or 2 get goofy smoke shadows and performance hit

Awesome...not a jaggie in sight smile







i applied your suggested settings to the conf bighead and there was a slight improvement especially on planes in the distance , changed enhance to overide and voila smile AA is only at 8 in the above shots AF at 16, water=4. effects back to 0

Thanks, I shall try. So far, any AF attempt was a disaster, but never tried your latest combo. I presume you left LandGeom=3?
